At least my body had been healthy—though Liam disagreed—and I was able to leave my bedroom after only a week. Marcus and Benjamin often came to visit me.

Marcus was quite a cheerful person. Thanks to him, I didn’t feel bored while confined to my room.

He told me everything that had happened while I was unconscious.

“We’ve decided to treat this incident with utmost seriousness. Attempting to poison Princess Ormia right after the Empire invited her? This is outright deception against the Empire!”

“Good heavens! They kept the princess standing in the audience chamber all day? Their own daughter? I know who Princess Ormia is, but to speak so casually about such cruelty—how shameless!”

“I just received word: they’ve been giving the princess infertility medicine? They say the King of Glisia is God’s representative, yet apparently the god he serves permits a father to force infertility medicine on his daughter.”

“We can’t possibly leave Princess Ormia in the Glisian royal palace any longer. Who knows what other concoctions they’ll force upon her next.”

“Considering there’s already precedent, are you really going to deny it? At the previous banquet, it was obvious how poorly the princess was treated when the chandelier fell.”

“From now on, the Empire will protect Princess Ormia.”

Liam charged into the king’s presence and caused a commotion.

All his rudeness was wrapped up in the name of love. They say no one could criticize him—a man driven by love, lashing out in defense of the woman he cherished.

“Enough.”

Liam, who had been staring elsewhere, finally spoke.

“But you’re enjoying it, aren’t you?”

“I’m fine. I like it when there are lots of people—it feels lively.”
