The bereaved accepted their punishment willingly, as penance for failing to drive out the wicked undead.

“The rainfall has decreased significantly as well.”

Those who had been observing and studying the Rain of Purification spoke with hopeful voices. Just as fear arose that the rain might never cease, it gradually began to subside. It had already been a full month since Benjamin and Yuricien retrieved the chalice from Chalice Lake.

By now, everyone had boarded the ark prepared by Gwisheon, so even if the entire city were submerged, they felt no worry for the future. They held a vague but firm belief that Gwisheon would somehow restore their homeland—the land that had become a sea from the river’s flooding. And indeed, this proved true when the rain finally stopped completely, the dark clouds dispersed, and the sun revealed itself.

“Aaah!”

“Kyaaaah!”

“Everyone, be careful!”

The ark prepared by Gwisheon plummeted. Terrified people, expecting a tremendous impact, screamed in chaos. Yet no shock came upon them at all. The newly formed sea vanished as if sucked away by an invisible drain, and the ark settled safely onto the ground as though it had never floated on water to begin with.

Many were moved by this perfect conclusion. It was only natural that faith in Gwisheon—who had even embraced those who had abandoned Gwisheon and cherished the undead, products of the Heven Church—soared to the heavens.
