I'll Abandon the Fake Savior (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 1
〈Hello, my B. I wonder if you’re having another pleasant day? I’m doing very well myself.〉
She paused mid-sentence, a gentle smile lingering on her lips as she gazed out the window.
She had so much she wanted to say, yet kept hesitating over whether she should share it all.
〈By the way, I heard the palace is soon hosting a homecoming party for His Highness the Crown Prince, who’s been convalescing at the temple. Many people from the temple are supposed to attend—will you be among them?〉
Her letter, filled with words she’d swallowed countless times, steadily covered the blank sheet before her.
She remembered clearly what B had written in their last exchange:
[Every moment waiting for your letter fills me with such anticipation that I’ve never had a single day without joy.]He probably couldn’t even imagine how deeply those kind words had comforted and consoled her.
〈Upon reflection, I felt the same way, B. My heart fluttered every moment I waited for your reply—I felt as though I’d welcomed spring all alone.〉
As the space on the paper dwindled, so too did her sense of longing grow heavier.
〈If I may add a personal wish, I’d love to hear from you before the weather gets too warm. I’ll end here.〉
‘Yuricien Windsor.’
You know, I’ve never told you this—but thank you for becoming my pen pal. That lost messenger pigeon stumbling upon me by chance and leading me to you was one of the rarest, most precious strokes of luck in my life. How can I ever fully express my gratitude to you, who restored color to my gray existence?
Words too bold for the letter. Swallowing back what she couldn’t bring herself to write—fearing it might burden him—her pale hand, calloused slightly at the knuckles, penned the final character.
“Whew…”
Holding the paper aloft, she blew gently a few times to dry the ink; the once-damp letters quickly faded into dryness. Carefully folding and unfolding it again, she checked that the ink hadn’t smudged.
“Coo, coo-roo.”
The pigeon waiting by the windowsill tilted its head curiously. Its inquisitive posture seemed to ask whether she’d finished her reply, and Yuricien gave a soft laugh. Judging by how it had already pecked up all the feed she’d scattered on the floor, it might even be asking for more if she needed extra time to write.
“Unfortunately, I finished my letter early today. I’ll give you more feed next time. So please, fly swiftly and deliver this letter to my friend B.”
Yuricien gently stroked the pigeon’s head. The bird closed its eyes as if understanding her words, quietly savoring her touch before stretching one leg toward her—a tiny pouch for carrying letters hung from it.
Yuricien rolled up the letter, written across several palm-sized slips of paper, and slipped it neatly into the messenger pigeon’s pouch.
“Thank you for your hard work today.”
Coo! Coo!
The pigeon cooed heartily, flapped its wings, and vanished into the sky. Yuricien watched it disappear with a faint smile before closing the window.
In that instant, her expression hardened like a snuffed candle flame.
It was time to wake from her dream and face reality.
“That young viscount is clearly smitten with me.”
“In all my life, I’ve never seen such an enormous bouquet! It’s because you take after me—men simply swoon! Truly, you’re the lovely princess of our great Windsor house.”
Laughter brimming with helpless joy rang out—it belonged to her stepmother, Kendali Windsor, and stepsister, Lafine Windsor.
Meanwhile, the true princess and legitimate daughter of House Windsor stood alone in this old, musty attic.
“……”
Yuricien quietly clenched her fist.
About three years ago, her stepmother Kendali had seized the moment when Yuricien’s widowed father, Jorgen Windsor, was clouded by grief and impaired judgment, swiftly becoming mistress of House Windsor—in just one month’s time. How she’d managed to ensnare Jorgen, a man so famously devoted to his late wife that others felt embarrassed on his behalf, remained an utter mystery.
‘It can only be explained as brainwashing.’
But that Jorgen was no longer in this Windsor manor. He’d vanished less than a month after marrying Kendali—along with his carriage, at the site of a landslide.
“Oh, but at least I’m not like my sister! She’s going to marry none other than the ‘Marquess Hopgrand’ himself!”
“What nonsense! Do you think the Marquess accepted the engagement because he fancied Yuricien? It’s all thanks to our great Windsor—me! Your sister ought to be grateful to me.”
Kendali’s voice, deliberately loud and piercing, tore painfully into Yuricien’s heart.
Marquess Hopgrand—a baron nearing fifty, widowed once, and already father to two sons.
Admittedly, his name alone might have been enough to deem him a desirable match despite all that.
Even for Yuricien, who had only just come of age.
Biting her lips nearly to the point of tearing under the mocking tone, Yuricien quickly regained her composure.
It didn’t matter how recklessly they arranged her marriage.
Yuricien Windsor would, as always, find a way.
“……I’m hungry.”
Even amidst all this, her honest body clamored for food. Perhaps it was only natural—she who had always eaten well was now forced to subsist on meals worse than those given to the lowest kitchen maids.
A single loaf of bread and a thin soup boiled in large quantities with random scraps—that was her fare. Yet even this bread, Yuricien hollowed out, eating only the insides and repurposing the empty shell as a letter envelope. Inside the hollowed loaf, she placed her last few coins and a request note, entrusting it to Jorgen’s former butler—who’d been cast out by Kendali.
‘Even if Kendali or Lafine catches me, I can just pretend it’s bread and chew it up—that’ll be that.’
Though it had been three years since Jorgen’s disappearance, and everyone insisted he was dead, Yuricien refused to believe it.
‘I don’t believe it. Father is alive. He must be somewhere out there.’
Trending
Though reduced from House Windsor’s noble princess to an attic outcast by Kendali and her daughter Lafine after Jorgen vanished, she never gave up. Ignoring all gossip and scorn, she relentlessly searched for Jorgen.
After approaching several guilds, she finally connected with a reliable one—one that reportedly sheltered a man bearing a striking resemblance to Jorgen.
Her sharp mind never ceased working, even within this drafty, locked attic, and she ultimately uncovered proof that Jorgen was still alive.
‘Thank goodness I found him before the money I’d hidden away after learning of Father’s disappearance ran out.’
All that remained now was to bring Jorgen back.
‘I must move more carefully. After coming this far, I can’t let it all amount to nothing.’
Yuricien believed that once Jorgen returned and shed his infatuation with Kendali, House Windsor would return to normal. That was her goal now.
‘I’ll reclaim everything—my home’s peace, my rightful place. All of it.’
Moreover, Yuricien was only twenty-two—far too young and full of promise to be sold off to a man nearing fifty. Logically speaking, a marriage between Yuricien and the Marquess made no sense whatsoever.
How could they possibly consider pairing an elderly man past fifty with Yuricien Windsor—the legitimate daughter of Duke Windsor, the beloved princess of the great Windsor line? It was only possible because Kendali, desperate to remove Yuricien from sight, had forced the match through.
Yuricien’s gaze drifted to a slightly worn mirror.
‘I’ve grown even thinner.’
Her upturned, catlike eyes appeared sharper against her newly narrowed jawline, and her sunken eye sockets deepened the shadows on her already striking face.
‘I’ve lost more weight from being ill these past few days.’
Living in an attic that offered neither proper food nor protection from the cold, falling ill was perhaps inevitable. Only her resilience had carried her this far—though she couldn’t stop the weight loss.
In the Solzereon Empire, where plumpness and gentle features were favored, Yuricien’s cold, haughty appearance didn’t align with popular tastes. Moreover, her black hair and red eyes gave her a severe look in the eyes of Solzereon men, who believed women should radiate brightness and charm.
Though Yuricien’s appearance defied the Empire’s beauty standards,
‘Even so, this is unacceptable.’
Considering how Jorgen had raised her, she couldn’t allow herself to be sold off like baggage into the hands of a stepmother scheming to swallow House Windsor whole.
Yuricien glared at the mirror with mild irritation, then covered it with a cloth. Resolve hardened in her crimson eyes.
‘I’ll never let Kendali have her way.’
As she’d also written in her letter to B, Yuricien would find a way to defeat Kendali—just as she had found Jorgen.
Yuricien murmured softly,
“For that… I truly would do anything.”

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Run away! I’m disgusted by him, how can you love him?! Eww!
How dare you, Kendali? How could you think of poisoning him the moment he returned? A witch? I didn’t expect that.
