Boring news came at the end of an uneventful year.

It was announced that the only daughter of Duke Hardness and the fifth prince of the Diasta Empire had become engaged.

The engagement became daily gossip throughout the capital.

Indeed, it was no wonder people were shocked—everyone knew that Miss Hardness had been hopelessly infatuated with the fourth prince, Asar Roel Diasta, yet she was now engaged to the fifth prince, Cassian Teron Diasta.

The House of Hardness was a name every citizen of the Diasta Empire had heard at least once.

For generations, they had served as the Emperor’s closest aides and produced exceptional martial artists.

Especially the current head, Harry Hardness, was widely respected for his innate martial prowess, charisma, and kind-hearted nature.

Having received a knighthood early in life, he earned the Emperor’s trust and was appointed captain of the Imperial Guard. He even led troops to victory in a war against a foreign nation long ago, earning remarkable merit.

Thus, when he suddenly resigned from his post as a knight at such a young age, speculation ran rampant.

Rumors even spread that the newly crowned Emperor, wary of his rising influence, had forced him out due to excessive ambition.

Yet, despite the rumors, the Emperor still frequently summoned him, and the prestige of House Hardness remained as strong as ever.

His only child, Veronica Hardness, was well known in high society—though, unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons.

The story of her debut into society at the age of fourteen was particularly infamous.

News that “the only daughter of Duke Hardness” was making her debut had stirred noble households for weeks.

She was the sole child of Duke Harry, who had never remarried after his wife’s early passing and was famously doting on her.

Whoever married her would inherit House Hardness, so naturally, she became the center of attention in high society.

When Veronica Hardness finally appeared at her first ball, her beauty—comparable to a delicately crafted doll—drew immense admiration.

At first, the atmosphere remained pleasant as she partnered with a young nobleman and stepped into the center of the dance floor.

That is, until she stepped on her partner’s foot twelve times, danced stiffly like a wooden log, and finally tripped over her own dress and fell down.

“Waaah—Father!”

Veronica collapsed right then and there, crying and screaming in a tantrum.

Since it happened in the middle of the dance, other children accidentally stepped on her too, adding insult to injury.

Duke Harry immediately rushed over to calm the situation. He soothed her, got her back on her feet, and tried to salvage the moment by continuing the dance himself.

But disappointingly, the girl proved utterly inept at dancing—so much so that it was hard to believe she’d received lessons from House Hardness.

Before long, she tripped again and shrieked in an unchildlike voice, then shoved her partner so hard he fell over too.

The other child burst into tears as well, and the ballroom instantly descended into chaos.

That day became the origin of “the Veronica Hardness incident.”

Since other noble children were also making their debuts that day, her rude behavior drew especially harsh criticism.

Veronica Hardness lacked even basic grace—far beyond what could be excused as youthful innocence. Her subsequent behavior only grew worse.

She ignored families of lower rank, openly looked down on anyone who seemed even slightly weak, and only warmed up to those who flattered her.

She was so ignorant that she couldn’t hide her foolishness, yet never once reflected on her shortcomings.

Moreover, her greed knew no bounds—she absolutely had to own anything pretty and expensive, or else she wouldn’t be satisfied.

Her wardrobe overflowed with unworn dresses, and her rooms were filled with unused purchases.

She even frequently tried to snatch belongings from others, often causing fights.

People sighed in exasperation. Duke Harry was famously easygoing, and her late mother had been known for her calm temperament—so where on earth had such a child come from?

But the truth was, Harry’s overwhelming indulgence bore much of the blame.

After losing his wife following a difficult childbirth, the stubbornly devoted Duke never considered remarrying, pouring all his love into his only daughter.

He gave her anything she wanted and would move heaven and earth for her sake.

If she asked for pearls, he’d cross oceans to get them; if she wanted the first blooming flower of spring, he’d climb deep into the mountains to pluck the most beautiful blossom, still glistening with morning dew.

Raised without ever hearing a word of criticism, her character had warped into its worst possible form.

Duke Harry’s overprotection had only ruined her further.

Thus, Veronica Hardness, branded as “the wild child of high society” and “the stain of House Hardness,” one day fell in love.

The one who stole the heart of this arrogant girl—whose pride had always rested on her father’s fame—was shockingly the fourth prince of the Diasta Imperial Family.

A prince deemed too frail to garner even the slightest attention within the palace, due to a limp from a childhood accident.

She had taken a liking to this seemingly insignificant fourth prince—though it was entirely one-sided.

Her feelings were so intense that her relentless, almost obsessive pursuit of him spread like wildfire across the empire.

Her straightforward, all-or-nothing personality had turned love into dangerous fixation.

For a while, it became a popular topic of amusement how the fourth prince kept firmly rejecting her suffocating affections.

When news arrived that she’d fallen gravely ill from heartbreak after failing to win his heart, people clicked their tongues in disapproval.

Indeed, obsession could be poisonous!

Yet now, suddenly, she was engaged to a different prince. At first, those who heard the rumor assumed it was misinformation—or perhaps that the fourth prince had finally relented.

But attending nobles confirmed the truth at the engagement ceremony itself.

Standing there in formal attire was unmistakably Prince Cassian Teron Diasta, and opposite him, wearing a gown, stood none other than Veronica Hardness.

The two stood side by side, exchanged vows, and placed rings on each other’s fingers.

Though still young and immature, their engagement ceremony proceeded with solemn dignity—

especially as His Imperial Majesty the Emperor had personally overseen the arrangements, drawing even greater public attention.

Yet while the bride-to-be beamed with delight, the groom’s expression remained utterly indifferent, fueling even more speculation.

Regardless, their engagement was officially announced to the public—amidst gasps, sighs, and endless curiosity, none of which truly mattered anymore.

* * *

An odd tension hung over House Hardness.

The commotion surrounding the engagement had quickly passed, leaving only a heavy silence within the manor.

Normally filled with boisterous footsteps and loud chatter, the halls now felt cautiously quiet—almost unnaturally so.

A maid walking down the corridor, balancing two long silver trays in her hands, stopped before a certain door.

Following routine, she knocked and entered, finding her precious young mistress lounging lazily at one end of a dainty sofa in her room.

“Miss, your snack.”

The maid held up the silver tray.

Upon it sat a cake generously frosted with pink cream, alongside a teapot of warm milk sweetened with honey, both giving off inviting warmth.

As the maid placed the tray on the table beside the sofa and turned to Veronica, her eyes widened in surprise.

Her mistress’s relaxed posture exuded an unusual languidness, but even more striking was the book resting in her small hands—

not a romance novel or picture book, but a plainly titled tome that seemed dreadfully dull.

The maid wondered inwardly, “What’s gotten into the young miss today?” but kept her thoughts hidden behind a polite smile.

“Miss, I’ve brought your snack.”

It was currently Veronica’s favorite time of day—the snack hour. Today’s dessert was a chiffon cake slathered in her beloved pink strawberry cream.

She had expected the girl to leap up with delight, but instead, Veronica merely glanced at it briefly before returning her full attention to her book.

“Miss?”

“I’m fine.”

“What? But it’s strawberry cream cake…”

“Yeah. I’m just not very hungry.”

With that, she continued reading as if truly uninterested.

The maid could only stare blankly at the young girl, engrossed in a thick, seemingly difficult book—so unlike the dessert-loving child she knew.

Even after the maid quietly left the room, Veronica remained on the sofa, reading for quite some time.

Eventually, she checked the time, rose from the sofa, smoothed her wrinkled clothes, and left the room.

Walking through the silent corridor, she entered a certain chamber, where a neatly dressed man was waiting.

He was her music instructor. He offered a forced smile to greet Veronica, but couldn’t conceal the anxiety and exhaustion in his hollow eyes.

“Well then, Miss Hardness, let’s give it our best again today.”

“…….”

After this brief exchange, Veronica sat down at the piano prepared in the center of the room.

Behind her, as she stared quietly at the keys, the instructor nervously swallowed, secretly dreading what was to come.

He had never before wished for his own hearing to fail—not until he’d been assigned to teach her.

Her small hands rested on the keys. The instructor agonized over how to coax some semblance of rhythm out of her today.

He reminded himself: she was a highborn girl younger than him, yet wielded terrifying influence—rumor had it she’d replace anyone who displeased her instantly; the pay for this lesson was exceptionally generous; and losing this job would spell disaster for his livelihood.

His legs trembled uncontrollably.

He couldn’t afford to lose this golden opportunity! The instructor scrambled to think of every possible flattering phrase.

Then, her small hands began to move.

The instructor, arms crossed and face etched with worry, slowly narrowed his eyes—and soon shot up from his chair in astonishment.

Chapter 150 Chapter 149

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.

  1. Nadia imam Chapter 25

this chapter was extremely sad. I like the fact that the author keep emphasizing on her past life, like not to let go her trauma. I i have read many fast pace regression novels when as soon as fmc finds love everything else just goes really fast and nothing else matters almost as if forgetting the revenge which was suppose to be the priority, so far loving this novel i hope they don’t ruin it.

  2. Nadia imam Chapter 36

I can totally understand the fmc she don’t want fake friends cause she already has a experience where she thought someone was her friend but they where only using her for her status. I mean its always hard to trust people when u been betrayed badly. I can totally understand her having trust issues.

  3. Nadia imam Chapter 46

she must be thinking something really romantic is going on between them. If only she knew what her favorite is scheming in that head of hers.
