Veronica straightened her back and turned to look at her instructor, who had been listening to her performance.

Her unexpectedly dull response left Harry crestfallen.
Had his daughter’s tastes already changed? Well, she had always been fickle and quick to lose interest.
“Don’t you like it?”
“Of course I do. I like it very much—that’s why I begged you to buy it, after all. Since they refuse to make duplicates for fear of devaluing it, I can imagine just how hard you must have worked to get this.”
Her tone made it clear she already knew the object’s origins. Still unmoved by her tepid reaction, Harry hurriedly pulled out another item and offered it to her.
This box was decorated with a cute rabbit illustration.
“They’re cookies! I bought them from your favorite shop—and not just one, but two boxes!”
“Did I really say that?”
“Of course! You used to whine all day, even saying you wanted to fall asleep while eating them!”
“I suppose I did.”
Again, her reaction was indifferent. This was the child who once went wild over sweets—Harry asked seriously,
“Are you feeling unwell?”
“Not at all. But, Father?”
“Yes?”
“Please don’t do this anymore starting next time.”
“Huh? What?”
Veronica, who had been turning the glass rose over in her hands, lifted her head.
“No matter how much I throw a tantrum or insist, please calmly tell me ‘no’ when something truly can’t be done. If my requests are too difficult, just refuse them. And if I still act out, it’s fine to scold me—even harshly. I won’t hate or resent you for it. That’s a promise. Do you understand what I’m saying?”
“Ah… I, I understand.”
“Yes. I love you very much, Father.”
With that, Veronica wrapped both arms around Harry’s neck.
Flustered, Harry placed a hand on her back.

“Am I still a child?”

“Don’t say things that make your old man tear up. To me, you’re still a child.”
Harry chuckled and gently placed the bear into Veronica’s arms. Reluctantly, she accepted it.
After fiddling with the bear for a while, Veronica continued,
“Father.”
“Yes? Tell me anything.”
“Even excessive generosity eventually runs dry. Didn’t you repeatedly teach me the value of frugality?”
“W-Well, yes…”
“We mustn’t waste the family fortune.”
Her reproachful tone left Harry flustered.
“My dear… your father has plenty of money. Don’t worry.”
Even with his soothing words, Veronica’s expression merely read, “Oh, really?”
“Then spend it for yourself. You’ve already given me more than enough. And I think you should get your money back for this—it’s far too extravagant.”

this chapter was extremely sad. I like the fact that the author keep emphasizing on her past life, like not to let go her trauma. I i have read many fast pace regression novels when as soon as fmc finds love everything else just goes really fast and nothing else matters almost as if forgetting the revenge which was suppose to be the priority, so far loving this novel i hope they don’t ruin it.
I can totally understand the fmc she don’t want fake friends cause she already has a experience where she thought someone was her friend but they where only using her for her status. I mean its always hard to trust people when u been betrayed badly. I can totally understand her having trust issues.
she must be thinking something really romantic is going on between them. If only she knew what her favorite is scheming in that head of hers.
