“Is that the dormitory building?”

I followed the campus map Timothy had given me and headed downstairs. The dormitory buildings clustered tightly together near the Charles River.

Tall trees stood sparsely scattered, and between them stretched rows of old red-brick buildings—dorms with a history of two hundred years.

Everything at this new school seemed beautiful. Even the bridge spanning the Charles River and the pebbles along the roadside.

I stopped studying the map and stood still, gazing at the flowing river.

Seeing the snow-white bridge and the wide river inevitably brought to mind the Han River back home.

…Could this school truly fill all my voids? Or would I grow tired within less than a year, disgusted by the endless cycle of exams and assignments that every university shares?

I’d told my parents here too—what I truly wanted, I’d find out for myself by going to college.

I hoped that during my time at university, I could understand myself a little better.

I smiled faintly, watching students practicing rowing on the Charles River.

“Yes, don’t worry. Timothy and Jessica live right over there, and I’ll be staying in the dorms too.”

I’d just returned from eating pizza with Timothy and Jessica near campus.

While I was at it, I’d not only finished my incomplete campus tour with the two current students but also got recommendations for nearby restaurants and even met some upperclassmen.

By the time I headed back to the dormitory, dusk had fallen, casting dim shadows along the path. I held an ice cream in my mouth, talking on the phone with my mom under the faint glow of streetlights.

—How can I not worry? Both you and Timothy are like children set beside water. When you said you’d become a Hunter, at least I saw your face every day—that was comforting. Now that I can’t see you, I feel so lonely I might die.
