The daily life Kayena had expected to stabilize upon her return remained unchanged as ever. Perhaps due to the strange feeling she’d had on the day of their reunion, Natasha found it difficult to be as at ease with Kayena as she used to be with Yae.

Because of the complicated situation, duties were fairly divided among the three of them. There was no preferential treatment—no extra time spent together simply because Kayena had been with her since childhood, nor any private matters entrusted solely to her.

Thanks to this, she was also able to spend extended time with Meliana and Vanessa. As days passed, both gradually opened their hearts to Natasha.

Even her relationship with the haughty maids had grown affectionate, yet the distance between Zieghart and Natasha remained stubbornly wide. Even sharing the same bed and dining at the same table brought no change in the measure of affection between them.

‘How utterly tiresome.’

Of course, the fundamental reason lay in Natasha’s aloofness.

Since the second day of staying at the ducal residence, a note had appeared on the table without fail each morning—and today, upon waking at her usual spot, Natasha was greeted by yet another.

Just as she was about to toss the note into the trash as usual, she noticed yesterday’s garbage—more precisely, yesterday’s discarded note—had been neatly cleared away.

‘At this rate, the servants might start noticing how strange our relationship is.’

Perhaps some curious maid, tired of cleaning up the same scrap of paper daily, might have opened it to read. Since she hadn’t heard any rumors yet, the servant who emptied the bin was either discreet or simply oblivious.

Before heading to breakfast, she asked Vanessa, who was selecting her accessories, “Vanessa, have you heard anything about our relationship?”

“Hmm… that the two of you get along exceptionally well? There’s a rumor that although you don’t display much affection in front of us, you’re adorably close behind closed doors, like lovebirds! And also….”

Vanessa answered readily, her fair cheeks flushed crimson.

Regretting having worried over nothing and now stuck listening to ridiculous gossip, Natasha quickly changed the subject.

“Never mind, that’s fine. Do you happen to know who’s in charge of cleaning my bedroom?”
