“The priests will be bringing the holy water shortly, won’t they?”

Natasha, mindful of the surrounding priests, asked the question while barely moving her lips.

Zieghart, having checked the time, gave a slight nod.

“There’s something I’ve wanted to tell you for a while.”

Zieghart tensed up as though anticipating just how unconventional her words might be.

Natasha pulled out a pin she’d kept hidden in her dress sleeve the whole time and carefully handed it to him.

“Before you drink the holy water, please use this pin.”

It was a pin so small it could be concealed in the palm of one’s hand. After briefly examining the plain-looking pin, the man quickly turned his gaze back to her. His lips remained firmly shut.

Accustomed to his unusual requests, Natasha immediately offered an explanation.

“It’s in case of any unforeseen circumstances. Many people resent your Highness for occupying such an esteemed position despite your ties to the imperial family. They might try to sabotage this auspicious occasion.”

Their crimson eyes met.

Uncharacteristically, Zieghart was the first to look away, clenching his hand tightly.

“Thank you for worrying about me.”

Despite his stiff demeanor, his gratitude didn’t seem feigned. Perhaps he simply hadn’t fully grasped Natasha’s warning, or maybe the sudden need for precaution left him unable to process the situation clearly.

It was rare for someone who usually pressed relentlessly for answers to accept something so readily this time.
