I Accidentally Imprinted On The Wolf Duke (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 1
#Prologue
I had a feeling it was too easy to just let me go.
Chloe Reeden, turning back with a light heart now that she had finally escaped the Duke’s estate, froze in place the moment she turned around and saw the man standing before her.
Right in the middle of the alley entrance, staring intently at Chloe, was none other than the Duke himself—Duke Hughgray Ulphaz—whom she had believed she’d safely slipped away from.
He stood there like a gatekeeper, as if saying, “Go ahead, if you dare pass me,” and Chloe instantly understood.
He had been waiting for her.
More precisely, he had come to catch her.
“Your Grace….”
A feeble sound, like that of a mosquito starved for days, squeaked out from her throat.
“Klein Reeden.”
The Duke called her name—or rather, the name he believed to be hers: that of a man named Klein.
Though he had merely spoken her assumed name, Chloe felt as if she’d also heard the unspoken command: “Come to me this instant.”
Is this how a cow feels, dragged toward the slaughterhouse?
With great reluctance, she took one step, then another, inching toward the Duke.
“Your Grace… what brings you all the way here…?”
“Well… why do you think I came?”
The Duke cut off her words mid-sentence, his voice piercingly cold.
His chilling aura made her lips feel frozen together, leaving Chloe struggling even to open her mouth.
She hadn’t been discovered yet—
So why did it feel as though everything had already been exposed?
“If you’ve come looking for a woman…”
“A woman? No, no… that’s not it at all.”
“….”
To Chloe’s barely whispered reply, the Duke firmly said “no” three times in a row.
“It seems I must look into a man instead.”
“A man…?”
Her head spun.
Could it be… had he found out?
She’d thought that if she could just make it home, nothing would happen—but apparently, it was already too late.
The moment those words had slipped from the Duke’s lips a few days ago—“I have a woman to find”—she should have fled right then and there.
Right on that very day.
#1. The Woman to Find
“I have a woman to find.”
Thud.
At Duke Hughgray Ulphaz’s words, Chloe Reeden felt as if she’d actually heard the sound of her own heart dropping.
A woman.
The word “woman” had come from the Duke’s lips—and he even said he needed to find her?
“Oh…”
A sigh escaped unwillingly from Chloe’s mouth.
Both the Duke and Sir Joyce, who had been listening to the Duke’s orders, frowned and looked at her in concern.
“Ahem! Sorry… I just… I was startled when you said ‘woman’…”
Chloe tried to smooth over her words, but her trembling nerves betrayed her, leaving her unable to finish her sentence properly.
Fortunately, the Duke nodded slightly, as if understanding.
He himself knew just how shocking it was to hear the word “woman” come from his own mouth.
After all, if there was any word least expected to come from Duke Hughgray Ulphaz, it was precisely “woman.”
“What kind of woman is she?”
Sir Joyce asked.
Chloe subtly swallowed hard, eyes fixed on the Duke’s lips.
She needed to stay calm.
It surely had nothing to do with her.
Trending
“A woman who stayed last night at Arne’s inn.”
Ah…
Her throat tightened.
Please, please don’t let him say the name “Dog and Cat’s Night.”
Unconsciously, Chloe clasped her hands together as if in prayer.
“The inn’s name is ‘Dog and Cat’s Night.’”
As if mocking her prayer, the Duke added.
Of course—it was that name.
A name so unusual that once heard, it could never be forgotten.
What a ridiculous name—like dogs and cats squabbling.
Chloe had stayed at that inn three times now, and in all those visits, she’d never once seen a dog or a cat.
Come to think of it, why on earth was the inn named that way?
“She has long golden hair and blue eyes.”
In stark contrast to Chloe’s racing heart, the Duke continued his description calmly.
Her own blue eyes, hidden behind thick, oversized lenses that covered half her face, trembled helplessly.
At least her long golden hair was safely concealed beneath a short brown wig—that was something to be thankful for.
“She’s about this tall… up to my shoulder…”
The Duke paused mid-explanation.
Chloe, who had kept her head bowed, slowly lifted it, suddenly feeling a hot something press against her left cheek—and then froze, holding her breath.
The Duke was staring right at her.
“Y-Your Grace…?”
Her voice quivered.
“Klein… how tall are you exactly?”
“Huh?”
She nearly hiccupped from shock.
Could he possibly have guessed that the woman from last night was her?
Instantly, cold sweat broke out down Chloe’s spine.
“You’re exactly her height. I’m asking—how tall are you?”
Ah!
Relief that she hadn’t been discovered and terror that she might be found out crashed into her at once, sending her heart into a furious, chaotic frenzy.
Right—she was just about that height.
The Duke truly had sharp eyes.
“168 cm, Your Grace.”
Chloe wanted to bite her tongue—but instead, she answered.
“Why are you looking for that woman?”
Sir Joyce asked.
“She’s the woman I slept with.”
Chloe’s internal reply and the Duke’s spoken words came out at the same time.
Chloe felt her face would burst into flames right then and there.
Neither Sir Joyce nor the Duke had any idea she was actually a woman—they both still thought she was a man—yet the Duke had just declared he’d slept with a woman, completely unaware that woman stood before him.
“Oh no! Good heavens!”
Sir Joyce suddenly groaned upon hearing the Duke’s answer.
Why was he reacting like that?
“How could such a thing happen! Oh, woe!”
Sir Joyce nearly sobbed, his fists trembling violently.
His usually fair complexion had turned almost crimson, likely from holding back tears.
Seeing Sir Joyce’s reaction made Chloe feel as though she’d stolen the innocence of an utterly pure Duke.
“How could this happen… how is this possible…!”
Sir Joyce finally broke into sobs.
Watching him cry only dragged Chloe’s already rock-bottom mood from last night’s mistake even deeper.

Yet Sir Joyce’s absurd words and actions were far less shocking than what the Duke said next.
“Stop making a scene, Joyce. It’s already happened. This must be my fate.”
Chloe felt as if the floor beneath her had flipped to the ceiling, then back again, spinning in dizzying circles.
Fate?
It was just a one-night mistake.
At least she knew her partner had been the Duke.
The Duke, however, didn’t even recognize the woman right before his eyes—making his mistake truly literal.
Of course, it was only natural he’d never imagine his cross-dressing male attendant was the woman he’d slept with—but still!
That night had meant nothing to either of them.
It had been driven purely by lust.
Then why—
Why was he not only deciding on his own to go searching for her, but even calling it “fate”?!
“Is she… a commoner? A human?”
Sir Joyce asked, his eyes bloodshot.
His crimson eyes burned with unmistakable anger.
Who exactly was that anger directed at?
And what did he mean, “commoner human”?
Did that imply commoners weren’t human?
That was awfully offensive to any commoner listening.
“Most likely, yes.”
The Duke’s voice carried a tinge of resignation.
Both the Duke and Sir Joyce were nobles, after all.
To those of blue blood, the feelings of a commoner attendant standing right beside them clearly meant nothing.
Ugh, I’ve committed an unforgivable sin.
How dare a mere commoner cause trouble with a Duke!
To hide her irritation, Chloe bowed her head even lower.
She hadn’t asked the Duke to take responsibility—and yet, why did he have to act as if the sky were collapsing?!
The commoner woman herself hates this situation too!
So please, stop looking for some “commoner human”!
Of course, she only muttered this inwardly.
“One more thing—she had a scar on her shoulder.”
The Duke calmly added another detail, entirely unmoved by Sir Joyce’s despair and sorrow.
“It was a slightly indented circular mark… as if bitten by a wild beast. I didn’t see it with my own eyes, so I can’t be certain.”
Unbelievable!
Not certain?!
That description couldn’t possibly be more precise—it was already perfectly accurate.
After all, her shoulder scar looked exactly as if a wild animal had bitten her.
“Understood.”
Sir Joyce answered, clearly struggling—but failing—to suppress his fury.
The more Chloe watched him, the more ridiculous he seemed.
“We must find her as quickly as possible.”
“Yes, I’ll depart immediately.”
Watching Sir Joyce’s resolute back as he walked away, Chloe couldn’t help but frown.
As soon as Sir Joyce left, the Duke leaned his elbow on the desk and buried his face in his hands.
As if a headache had struck, he let out a faint groan—more like a sigh—and furrowed his brows.
“Your Grace, then I shall take my leave as well.”
After last night with the Duke—who’d been like a beast in rut—Chloe didn’t have a headache, but her entire body ached as if she’d been beaten.
She could barely stand.
“Hmm…”
Still keeping his head down, the Duke gave an ambiguous reply, but Chloe took it as permission and quickly turned to leave.

“Klein!”
The Duke’s call snagged her by the collar.
Ugh, why?!
“Yes, Your Grace?”
Despite her inner complaints, Chloe answered politely and turned to face him.
“But… what’s this smell?”
“Excuse me?”
“I’ve been noticing a scent since earlier.”
A smell?
“Now that Joyce is gone, I’m sure of it—it seems to be coming from you.”
“That can’t be…”
“Come closer.”
“No, I…”
There’s absolutely no smell!
He usually hated her getting close—why today of all days did he insist?!
“I said come closer.”
She had no choice. Reluctantly, she stepped toward him—just half a step.
“A bit closer.”
She took another half-step.
“Right up to my nose.”
But I don’t want to!

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

The Duke’s senses as a wolf are dull if the can’t tell the difference between a man and a woman dressed up like a man….
So her mom made her take some mysterious medicine? Yeah. She’s definitely a shifter too. Or at least not fully human.
I wonder how long it’ll take for the Duke to find out his “male” servant is the woman he is looking for.
