“Your Majesty. It is time to rise.”

“…?”

At the sound of a human voice, birds fluttered away in a panic.

But what startled Lasilia more than a bird speaking human words was the phrase that had just come from a person’s mouth.

Your Majesty…?

Who on earth were they calling “Empress”?

“Then I shall open the door.”

Thud!

An absurdly heavy sound echoed from the door, and then people entered.

Swish!

The smooth curtain, drawn only at the foot of the bed, was pulled aside.

“Did you sleep well, Your Majesty?”

“…!”

Lasilia couldn’t utter a word—she simply gaped.

A silent gasp of shock escaped between her lips.

Six women, hands clasped over their chests and bowing deeply with utmost respect, were clearly greeting none other than her. They were calling none other than her “Empress.”

“Your Majesty, is something the matter?”

When Lasilia remained unresponsive for too long, the woman at the front asked.

Judging by her age and demeanor, she seemed to hold the highest rank among them.

“You… what did you just call me…?”

“Your Majesty? Are you feeling unwell?”

“…”

She hadn’t misheard. She wasn’t seeing things.

There was no one else around—these women were unmistakably addressing her as Empress.

Why?

How on earth had this happened?

“I…”

Lasilia swallowed hard. It felt less like swallowing saliva and more like swallowing a needle.

“Who… did you say I am?”

“Huh…?”

The six women wore expressions similar to Lasilia’s.

Soon after, a rumor swiftly spread through the imperial palace: Empress Cartagena Pielion had lost her memory.

[This is the timeline separator]

The atmosphere was strange.

Even the prophets of that distant, faraway kingdom would have found the current situation utterly nonsensical upon opening their eyes to see Lasilia suddenly crowned Empress.

The court physicians said nothing when told the Empress remembered nothing at all. They simply accepted it.

It was suspicious—beyond merely odd.

“Yes, then… shall we for now go with amnesia… and report it to His Majesty as such?”

The court physician, who had mentioned the Emperor, cautiously glanced at Lasilia as she asked.

‘What is this?’

Neither the court physicians nor the maids showed any suspicion or concern about the amnesia.

They merely bowed low, watching her every move.

‘…No one believes me. They think I’m faking it.’

Then why?

After a brief pause, Lasilia asked the court physician,

“Have I ever suffered from amnesia before?”

“Huh? Um… No, Your Majesty, you have not.”

Though the answer was “no,” Lasilia didn’t miss the way the physician’s eyes rolled once before replying.

“It sounds as if it wasn’t amnesia exactly, but something similar.”

The eyes rolled twice this time.

Chapter 115 Chapter 114

“It’s just… given how sensitive and delicate Your Majesty is… you often fall ill whenever the Blue Moon rises.”

“Blue Moon?”

“Yes, Your Majesty. The Blue Moon will rise within a few days.”

The Blue Moon…

She’d heard of it vaguely before.

The blue moon, visible only in the Empire, was said to be the moon of the demon realm. In some places, it was called the Moon’s Death.

On nights when this terrifyingly large, bright, yet pale blue moon rose, no shadows could be seen. It was a distant, illusory moon—visible to the eye but casting no shadow upon the earth.

‘Since I’ve never seen it myself, it always felt like an old wives’ tale.’

Perhaps that was why.

Since ancient times, the Blue Moon had been accompanied by all manner of ill omens.

Some said demons would resurrect when the Blue Moon rose; others claimed it possessed the power to fulfill curses. It was said to drive good people mad and claim the lives of the innocent at will.

‘So amnesia is linked to the Blue Moon? …No, even if that’s true, I should still be worried.’

Calling her “sensitive and delicate” sounded different from saying she was physically unwell.

‘They don’t believe me because they think I’m feigning illness.’

The physician had described the Empress as “sensitive and delicate,” not “frail.” That phrasing carried a different nuance altogether.

‘Maybe nothing I say will be believed—not even if I claimed I wasn’t the real Empress.’

Her head throbbed.

‘So what should I do?’

First, she needed time to calmly think through this situation.

Having reached a decision, Lasilia addressed the people standing quietly, watching her every move.

“If His Majesty is already aware that I often feel unwell, there’s no need to inform him further.”

If the Emperor found out, matters would only grow more complicated.

“Oh… Are you serious? Is that truly acceptable?”

The court physician brightened visibly—so much so it was almost comical. Clearly, reporting feigned illness to the Emperor was a troublesome burden.

She needed to find a way out of this situation quickly.

‘I… Yes, I shouldn’t stay here. I must return to Delarta.’

Suddenly, it felt as if a heavy stone had settled on her chest.

If the gods had revived her, there must be a reason.

If her death had been caused by Prince Ricardo’s rebellion, then perhaps now—reborn—she still had a chance to prevent it.

“I wish to focus alone and quietly on recovering my memories. Please leave now.”

At Lasilia’s words, everyone’s faces lit up. But whenever their eyes accidentally met hers, they hastily bowed their heads, adopting postures so deferential they bordered on servile.

‘The Empress must be truly difficult to serve.’

Everyone swiftly offered their farewells and filed out one after another. Their footsteps, making not even the faintest sound, were remarkably quick.

[This is the timeline separator]

“What? Amnesia?”

Thump! …Roll, roll.

Regardless of what Lasilia had told the court physician, rumors spread quickly within the palace.

Moreover, the Emperor had two Shadow Knights who vigilantly monitored the Empress’s every move.

One of them, Rian, dropped the apple she’d been about to bite into the moment she heard the word “amnesia.”

It was exceedingly rare for Rian—who was considered the most likely among humans to achieve the rank of Sword Master—to make such a clumsy mistake. It showed just how absurd she found the news.

“Yeah. Amnesia.”

The one who’d brought this piping-hot news straight from the Empress’s quarters—like freshly baked bread—was the other Shadow Knight, Serben.

Serben nudged the fallen apple with his toe, caught it with his left hand, and tossed it back to Rian.

When Rian frowned, he quickly rubbed the apple against his shirt to clean it and handed it back.

Crunch!

Rian took a large bite and glared at Serben.

“Since when did amnesia become such a common ailment? Is it like those frequent afflictions of Her Majesty—the heart condition, insomnia, suicidal urges, or quadriplegia?”

“Of course not. But consider the timing. The Blue Moon is about to rise—anything’s possible then.”

“Oh, right. The Blue Moon.”

Both knights wore identical expressions.

Their downturned mouths twisted so bitterly they nearly tasted sour.

“When the Blue Moon rises, His Majesty is the one who truly suffers, and Her Majesty doesn’t want to bear responsibility for that—so she pretends to be ill in advance… Fine. We’ve seen that same pattern every year for four years straight, so we’ll allow it. But why amnesia this time?”

Crunch!

Rian scrunched her nose and took another bite. Serben watched in admiration as she reduced the apple to just its core in two bites.

“Does our wicked and scheming Empress not realize that even if she loses her memory, she can still perform ‘Contact’ whenever she pleases?”

Serben chuckled softly and lightly pressed a finger to Rian’s wrinkled nose.

“I doubt our ruthless and conscienceless Empress would overlook something so basic. She must have some other motive.”

“What could that possibly be?”

“Not sure. But I heard she told the court physician not to inform His Majesty.”

“That makes even less sense. If she’s feigning illness to avoid Contact during the Blue Moon, why keep it secret? This is exactly when she should be shouting it from the rooftops.”

“Maybe she’s planning some dramatic reveal? You know how she loves being the sole center of attention.”

“She loves it so much it’s become a problem.”

“Exactly.”

Though the twin-born knights always got along well, they were especially united when it came to Empress Cartagena.

They had long concluded that Cartagena was a capricious liar and a deceitful fraud utterly devoid of conscience.

The fact that she always concocted excuses to stay in bed whenever the Blue Moon appeared was proof enough.

Crunch!

Chewing the apple core as if tearing into an enemy, Rian muttered,

“Yeah, the Blue Moon is coming soon… How’s His Majesty? No signs yet?”

“Wouldn’t it be more accurate to ask him yourself?”

“Who doesn’t know? His Majesty never complains. Even if he’s in agony like he’s about to die, he’ll just say, ‘Since I didn’t die, it’s fine.’”

Unfortunately, that statement required no debate.

Reskal, the current Emperor of Eliaeden, differed from ordinary humans in many ways.

His appearance alone—starting with his dazzling golden eyes—was extraordinary. He was terrifyingly beautiful, yet equally alien.

Even when not seated on the throne, his otherness made him seem utterly alone.

His vision was twice as sharp as a human’s, and so was his lifespan. His skin was unnaturally tough; he knew neither fatigue nor illness.

He was several times stronger and more resilient than any human. He had never known despair born of physical limits, nor the human emotions that stemmed from such despair.

This was due to the demonic blood mixed into Eliaeden’s imperial lineage.

Over generations, that demonic blood had diluted—some emperors showed almost no demonic traits—but Reskal was exceptional. He was born bearing unmistakable, undeniable demonic characteristics.

Yet even his monstrous body knew pain.

It came from his human flesh’s inability to contain the immense power flowing from his demonic blood.

On nights when the Blue Moon—the demon realm’s moon—rose, that blood would cruelly surge, mocking his humanity.

His skin would split open, revealing hard, scale-like growths; horns would sprout through his forehead bone; wing bones would tear through his back.

Though these physical changes vanished when the moon set, the pain did not simply disappear with them.

After chewing her lips in silence for a while, Rian abruptly stood up from where she’d been squatting on the floor.

“I’d better check for myself. I’ll go see what our vile and cunning Empress is plotting.”

Serben crossed his arms and shook his head.

“Knowing won’t change anything. Judging by this amnesia nonsense, Her Majesty plans to lock herself in her chambers again. You know there’s nothing we can do when she’s like that.”

“It won’t change anything, but I’m frustrated!”

Just as Rian raised her voice in exasperation—

Bang!

Without warning, the inner door of the study swung open.

“Your Majesty?”

It was Reskal who had opened the door.

He walked in, clutching his wrist. Though Reskal rarely showed expression, his face now bore a clear look that both knights could easily read. It was highly unusual.

“I must go to the Empress.”

“Huh?”

And that statement was unusual too.

As far as the two knights knew, this was the first time Reskal had ever sought out the Empress himself. While they disliked Empress Cartagena, Reskal went beyond dislike—he seemed utterly indifferent.

He might even have considered the palace garden’s fountain more useful than the Empress.

Yet here he was, seeking her out. This was no ordinary occurrence.

Reskal extended the wrist he’d been clutching toward Rian.

“Symptoms are appearing.”

“Your Majesty…!”

On the inside of Reskal’s wrist, his skin was splitting in strands, and translucent, stone-like scales were beginning to emerge.

“Damn it!”

Rian squeezed her eyes shut.

That was precisely why no one could lay a finger on the Empress—despite her being a wicked, scheming, and deceitful liar.

Unfortunately, the Empress was the only one who could control the demonic blood.

Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife

I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro

When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.

After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.

Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.

Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.

At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.

Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.

The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.

He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.

[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]

  1. Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 3

I loved this episode. I love Reskal—the guy doesn’t hold back and does whatever he wants, even barging in without waiting for the go-ahead, hahaha. The knights are still great. I love how completely bewildered they are when he hugs Cartagena, and even he doesn’t know why—he just felt different.

She, for a prophet who claims to be calm, reacted quite differently, hahaha. I can just imagine what dinner with the two of them will be like, because I doubt he’ll hold back from saying or doing something.

  2. Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 10

The relationship with Ternaden looks really strange. I mean, the way he behaves around her is so suspicious.
And now I’m even more convinced that Lasilia simply saw Cartagena die because of the ritual, and that’s why she possessed the body and brought back the mark Cartagena used to have, because she is his fated match.

  3. Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 11

I love Reskal. He’s totally in ‘I saw my chance and I took it’ mode hahahahaha, and since Lasilia is still playing her memory loss card, she can’t question anything he says. I love this man.

Even so, the whole Delarta thing still bothers me. I don’t understand why she’s in such a rush to go there because she’s no longer a prophetess; she’s not Lasilia, she’s Cartagena. Even if she knows the truth, she won’t be able to do anything because she’ll be in the exact same position as she is as Empress—who is going to believe her?
