How to Divorce a Obsessive Emperor Safely (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 16
It was just an excuse.
Lasilia abruptly rose from the sofa.
Shock? What shock? She looked perfectly fine.
She was tired of saying it every time, but once again, the Emperor was being flamboyant. In that short span, he had returned fully composed and impeccably matured. At this point, it almost seemed as if the Emperor existed solely to dress himself each day.
“There doesn’t seem to be any need for that.”
“Why not?”
When Lasilia stood up, the Emperor rose as well.
“It’s already been several hours since I fell into the water, and even if I were shocked, I’ve surely recovered by now.”
“That’s not true.”
“And if anyone was shocked, wouldn’t it be the one who actually fell in? I’d appreciate it if you’d consider my feelings too.”
“Oh… I suppose you’re right.”
Her condition wasn’t so bad that she couldn’t say such things, but she’d even considered pretending to be unwell just to shake off the Emperor’s clinginess.
“My consideration was lacking. You were the one who fell into the water.”
“Yes, so…”
But that wouldn’t do.
“You need to rest.”
Without warning, the Emperor suddenly swept her up into his arms.
“Your Majesty! …Please put me down. There’s no need for this.”
“I will. Once I’ve laid you on the bed.”
“No, that’s really not necessary…”
“I couldn’t stand properly for a while. You must be even worse—you’re the one who fell in, after all.”
“…”
Lasilia stayed silent because his words about not being able to stand properly sounded utterly truthful.
The Emperor pushed open the bedroom door with his shoulder and strode firmly toward the bed.
In the end, Lasilia couldn’t utter a word until she was lying on the bed.
“Rest comfortably. Until you feel better.”
Though, truthfully, she already felt fine.
It was a moment that reminded her anew: every word spoken before the Emperor required caution.
This man is unpredictable. There’s no telling what he’ll do next.
That’s why dealing with him always left her tense.
“…Very well.”
It seemed she had no choice but to stay lying down. After all, it was already late—the sun was sinking low on the horizon.
Perhaps it would be better to sleep early.
After all, tonight was supposed to be the Blue Moon.
When Lasilia nodded, Reskal lifted the blanket, as if intending to tuck her in once she was settled.
“Just a moment. Let me take off my shoes.”
“Oh… I forgot about your shoes.”
Reskal promptly set the blanket down and, before Lasilia could move, quickly grasped her foot.
“Your Majesty.”
She’d grown accustomed to his odd behavior by now, but this time she couldn’t help being flustered.
“Stay still. I’m only going to take off your shoes.”
“I can do it myself.”
“Can’t I do it?”
Probably not.
“It doesn’t seem like something the Emperor should do.”
“Is that so…?”
Reskal paused briefly, then shook his head.
“No, I don’t think such rules apply to you.”
Still holding her foot, Reskal lowered his head and stared fixedly at Lasilia’s hand, which she’d awkwardly reached out toward him.
“Were your insteps always shaped like this?”
Trending
Even after slowly removing her shoe, the Emperor kept holding her foot.
Feeling he might do something absurd again, Lasilia grabbed his wrist.
“Please let go now.”
“Why?”
“It’s uncomfortable.”
“…”
His golden eyes slowly rolled once.
Still, Lasilia expected him, as always, to simply say “Fine,” and comply with her request.
“…I always kissed your insteps.”
“What—”
Yet he went on spouting such nonsense.
“Because we got along very well.”
“…”
Lasilia clenched her teeth, suppressing the anger rising within her.
‘Is he treating me like a fool? …Sigh. But I have to endure it.’
Everything would be fine once today passed—once the Blue Moon rose and set.
“I don’t remember anything right now. I’m sorry.”
Lasilia pushed Reskal’s hand away, signaling him to stop. But Reskal quickly caught hold of her hand.
“If it makes you uncomfortable, I’ll refrain from kissing your insteps.”
He spoke as though making some grand concession.
It wasn’t even something he needed to do in the first place.
“Instead, let me kiss somewhere else.”
“…I clearly stated that I’m uncomfortable.”
“That’s why I said I won’t kiss your insteps.”
“…”
“I even took off your shoes for you.”
“…”
He was the one who’d forcibly taken over when she’d tried to remove them herself.
“If this discomfort continues, I’m worried I might eventually come to resent Your Majesty.”
At that, the Emperor’s lips twitched.
“But if you keep avoiding me like this, your memories will never return. Have you forgotten that I vowed to stay by your side twenty-four hours a day to help you regain them?”
Reskal subtly tightened his grip on her hand, stroking it earnestly.
“I swore to recover my memories as soon as possible—even a single day sooner. Yet you don’t seem to be making any effort at all.”
Hoo.
Lasilia exhaled sharply.
She’d felt it even then—the Emperor had something of the temple courtyard dog about him. Once he started petting, he’d keep at it relentlessly until your arm ached, heedless of your circumstances.
…Well. It’s the Blue Moon. Just for today.
“I’ll do it myself instead. Would that be alright?”
Lasilia, who had been trying to pick a spot that would cause less embarrassment, said this.
Though, in truth, there probably wasn’t any such spot. Everywhere the Emperor’s lips had touched still burned with lingering warmth, leaving her feeling strangely unsettled. At this point, it seemed better to just do it herself.
For an instant, his golden eyes flashed brightly.
“You’ll do it? The kiss?”
“Yes.”
In the blink of an eye, his face suddenly loomed right before hers.
“Good. Go ahead.”
His already dazzling golden eyes felt even more overwhelming than usual.
“…Ahem. Where would be best?”
Lasilia turned her head slightly aside and cleared her throat. The Emperor stared at her without blinking.
“Anywhere is fine, as long as you like it.”
“Then… perhaps you should close your eyes first.”

“As you wish.”
The Emperor closed his eyes.
Lasilia struggled to find a spot that would feel as unremarkable as possible.
‘I feel like I’ve made a mistake.’
Unintentionally, she ended up scrutinizing every detail of the Emperor’s face.
‘His forehead seemed safe enough.’
But now that she looked, it was anything but.
His straight forehead resembled a statue’s. The brow bones flowing from his forehead, his straight nose bridge, the symmetrical cheekbones, the narrow nostrils, and the sharp line of his lips beneath—all of it was deeply unsettling.
‘Is it because his eyes are closed?’
Perhaps it was because his golden eyes—too brilliant to seem human—were hidden. With his eyes shut, the Emperor no longer appeared alien.
He was simply an unrealistically handsome man.
“This is taking too long.”
The Emperor murmured softly, eyes still closed.
“Have you changed your mind already?”
“I’m still deciding.”
“Then just kiss me on the lips.”
What nonsense, coming from him now.
“I’ll kiss your cheek.”
“Right or left?”
Did she really have to specify that too…?
“Right.”
“Good.”
Now that she’d said it, she felt inexplicably more nervous.
Lasilia swallowed hard and looked at the Emperor’s right cheek.
‘Sigh. I don’t know. Just get it over with quickly.’
With that resolve, she pressed her lips to his cheek.
And at that very moment, the Emperor sharply turned his head.
“…?”
By the time she realized what had happened, it was already too late.
The instant he turned his head, their lips met instead of his cheek—and thus, an unintended kiss began.
‘What… is this?’
The moment lip touched lip, a sensation she’d never imagined before flooded through her. The soft, damp skin and mingling breaths surpassed every touch she’d ever known.
When she came to her senses, she was lying on the bed, tightly embraced by the Emperor.
“…Ugh!”
Thud!
Lasilia shoved the Emperor away.
“Oh…”
Surprisingly, he was easily pushed aside—unlike his usual immovable self.
“No, that’s…”
The Emperor blinked, looking dazed and disoriented.
“That was far too cowardly of you.”
Lasilia spoke, forcing down her ragged breath.
“That… it wasn’t intentional…”
“If it wasn’t intentional, then who forced your head to turn?”
“It’s just… my body moved on its own. I didn’t even realize it.”
“That sounds like a ridiculous excuse. Please leave now.”
“It may sound like an excuse, but it’s also the truth. Really, it wasn’t deliberate…”
That oddly flustered expression only made her angrier.
“Leave.”
“Did… did you get angry?”

“If you weren’t angry, that would be strange. I’ll say it again—leave.”
Her own voice startled her with its icy coldness.
The Emperor, shoulders slumped, slowly rose from the bed.
“I was wrong… truly.”
“Yes, you were.”
“Can’t you tell me how to make it up to you?”
“That’s not something the one who caused the anger should ask the angry person. Figure it out yourself. And if you stay here any longer, I’ll only get angrier.”
“Understood.”
His hesitant movements quickened slightly.
“I’ll go, so don’t be angry.”
“I’m already angry.”
“That… I really was wrong.”
His slumped shoulders drooped even lower. Turning listlessly, the Emperor left the bedroom.
“Sigh.”
Only after he disappeared did she feel as if she could finally breathe. She couldn’t even recall how she’d been breathing before.
“He’s gone mad. To go this far…”
Lasilia rubbed her lips vigorously with the back of her hand.
“To feel… this way over such a thing.”
That was the problem.
At first, she hadn’t even realized what was wrong. Just like the Emperor said it happened naturally—so had it felt to her.
“I must be going mad.”
Right before the kiss, she’d been thinking how incredibly handsome the Emperor was.
That alone made no sense. If her true identity were discovered, the Emperor would kill her. Yet even after witnessing everything, she’d been idly thinking how handsome he was—it was utterly unbelievable.
—“I love you. I am your destiny.”
She’d shouted those words in a dream—to a man whose brilliant eyes revealed not a trace of emotion.
Lasilia was afraid that might truly become her future.
“Even two months is too long.”
She’d planned to endure until she uncovered Delarta’s secrets, but now escaping the Emperor’s side had become far more urgent.
“I need to find a way. I can’t go on like this.”
As if making a vow, Lasilia nodded to herself—just as blue moonlight fell upon her shoulders.
Turning toward the window, Lasilia’s eyes widened.
“Is that… the Blue Moon?”

Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 17I really dislike how stubborn Lasilia is and how she refuses to even try to make things work. She is so close-minded, so wrapped up in her own head, and honestly, her not even trying to live her life as the empress drives me crazy—especially when Reskal has been nothing but good to her.
Poor Reskal. It completely broke my heart that even after transforming, he still went to look for her to find comfort.
Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 18Ugh, it pisses me off that Lasilia uses her amnesia for those kinds of things. I mean, she could at least try!
Reskal is still such a sunshine, I love that he wants to be all over her at all times. I love him.

Ugh, I seriously can’t stand Lasilia. She is a total pain. Reskal is such a sunshine, I still love how dedicated he is to her, but she doesn’t even make an effort to pretend, and this is coming from someone who claims she doesn’t want to raise suspicions. She is so stiff, ugh.
