“I wish to speak with the Lady alone.”

The Imperialle guards, who had been watching over Lu with utmost vigilance, immediately withdrew, closing the door behind them.

“Sit down, Lu. There’s no need to stand.”

Hayden pulled a chair directly in front of her and sat, then reached out his hand.

“Let me check on you first. Have you taken your medicine?”

Amid the maids’ frantic bustling—bringing medicine, water, cleaning her blood, and ensuring she ate properly—Lu gave a firm nod.
