The head maid, who had cared for Lu since Grea Palace, whispered kindly and placed the bowl directly before her. For Lu, whose stomach was utterly ruined, this was a welcome dish. She sipped the thoroughly softened, finely minced soup bit by bit while listening to the conversation between Melfius and Hayden.

“We definitely knew about Jaquelin Moiquipel and her son and daughter.”

“I also heard the name Joslyn Moiquipel, Your Majesty.”

That was the Deputy Minister of the Trade Bureau—the very woman who’d sent Lu into a room piled high with documents and dismissed everyone else to provoke trouble. Lu remembered her clearly.

“Yes. She’s the Duke’s niece.”

Hayden nodded impassively but didn’t mention that testimony had already surfaced about Joslyn Moiquipel subtly fanning the flames for her aunt.

Perhaps it was because Lu sat quietly beside him, eating. She was, after all, a patient who clearly needed rest. He wouldn’t bring up anything that might trouble her.

“She’s also the Deputy Minister of the Trade Bureau. I’ve just instructed them to find a successor—someone not from the Eastern nobility, yet capable of holding their ground as long as possible.”

At those words, Melfius’s eyes turned toward Lu.

“Seems we already have such a person.”
