The only sound reaching Ivenel, left alone in the dark forest, was the chilling noise of a monster savagely tearing apart and devouring a horse.

She held her breath, straining to observe the monster’s form clearly.

A large, bear-like body, black fur covering its entire frame, four massive paws, and two sharp fangs occasionally visible.

‘It’s definitely a Chelp.’

This place lay along a frequently used path, so monster appearances were rare—but if one’s luck ran out, an encounter was still possible.

And unfortunately, she was precisely that unlucky one.

‘Stay calm. What were Chelp’s characteristics again?’

Ivenel quickly recalled what she had studied before coming here.

One of the monsters commonly found near the Pertti territory, its most notable traits were its degenerated eyesight and exceptionally acute hearing.

Thus, it only became active at night, after the sun had set.

‘Fortunately, this isn’t the worst-case scenario.’

If handled well, she could escape this crisis without issue. The Chelp was completely absorbed in devouring its prey right before its eyes, so all she needed to do was quietly slip away from this spot.

There was no need to risk fighting the monster. She could simply return to her companions, explain the situation, and leave safely.

Just as Ivenel was slowly increasing the distance while keeping her eyes fixed on the Chelp ahead, an unexpected voice reached her ears.

“My Lady?”
