Ivenel’s expression clearly showed her disagreement. Suhel looked down at her, surprised by this unexpected perspective.
“Of course, as Your Majesty said, there must be much to gain. But isn’t there even more that’s been lost? After all, they live each day in constant tension, never knowing when demons might attack.”
Just standing here briefly made it hard to breathe—what must it feel like to live like this every day?

Hearing his low chuckle behind her, she glanced sideways at his face. She didn’t seem offended at all.
While they talked, the group safely reached their destination. Those waiting in front of the mansion bowed respectfully as Suhel approached.
After dismounting, Ivenel’s eyes fell upon the person standing foremost among the gathered crowd.
