Boiling Desire (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 3
On the way home after work, in the back seat of the car, Ha Joon closed his eyes and fell deep into thought.
Last night, he really felt like he had become a terrible person. They were married, so wasn’t it natural to spend their first night together?
He had tried to continue the act while ignoring her violently trembling body. It definitely wasn’t because he was doing something wrong. It must be because it was her first time and she was scared. She’d get used to it eventually.
But no matter what, he couldn’t make any progress.
Her reaction was confusing, yet somehow cute.
— It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Ha Joon oppa. You’re not saying you don’t recognize me, right? It’s Seo Ah. Han Seo Ah.
Before the marriage, he remembered the moment the seventeen-year-old girl who couldn’t even meet his eyes properly and held her breath whenever he came close reappeared six years later as a full-grown adult.
The baby fat was gone, making her features sharper and more defined; her skin was as clear and translucent as it had been when she was young; and her figure, which had always stood out even as a child, now had curves in all the right places.
Above all, he liked her eyes. The way she looked at him like she wanted to devour him.
It was probably the same gaze he had given her six years ago.
Ha Joon had been born as the heir to the top conglomerate family in the country.
Because of that, he never had time to pay attention to girls while juggling studies and management lessons from a young age. After hearing from his father who his arranged marriage partner would be, he only had eyes for Seo Ah.
It was partly to follow his father’s wishes, but unlike the usual chaebol friends who flaunted their family background, her unpretentious and bright personality had felt refreshing.
Yet he never showed it. He had never been loved nor loved anyone himself, so he was clumsy and blunt with his feelings.
He had never even received love from his own parents.
To Ha Joon, love was a luxury. A pointless waste of time. He had been taught that it was only natural for someone aiming to become the owner of a conglomerate.
Marriage was nothing more than business.
But when news of the arranged marriage spread, his friends started picking fights.
“Hey, I heard you’re marrying Yoo Young’s Han Seo Ah? That girl’s bad at studying, always slacking off at the back, and apparently our school’s level is too low for her to even get in?”
“Man, Kang Ha Joon, is that really your level? Well, you’re marrying someone on your level, I guess. Kekeke.”
He didn’t respond. If he fought back, he’d be lowering himself to their level.
He could endure insults directed at himself—his pride was high enough that he knew exactly what his own worth was—but insults toward Seo Ah bothered him.
The school Ha Joon attended was one that only the children of politicians and conglomerates could enter, and even among them, only the truly outstanding ones were accepted.
He knew it himself. Seo Ah didn’t have the grades to get into the school he attended.
Even without ability, there were plenty of students who bribed their way in if their parents wanted it badly enough.
But in an environment where even the legitimately admitted students competed so fiercely they needed psychiatric treatment, those who entered through the back door often ended up making irreversible mistakes not long after.
If Seo Ah became his wife and entered this world, would she really be able to endure it? In a chaebol society where only the strong survived, how long could someone as soft and pure as her last? He was worried she might end up making the wrong choice.
He had even seen his usually unshakable father waver for the first time because of his mother’s words.
“Do we really have to go through with this marriage? What do we lack that we have to become in-laws with Yoo Young? And the girl is like that… It would be much better to choose Ji Young from Hyosung even if the family is a tier lower. She’s good at studying, polite, and so pretty.”
“I didn’t expect her to be that uninterested in academics, but they say she’s going to study abroad in France soon, so let’s wait and see a bit longer.”
Just a while ago, his father had said that thanks to Seo Ah’s father, Taesung had risen to the top spot and that he wanted to support Yoo Young as well.
“Or there’s the third daughter, Seo Yun. There’s a bit of an age gap with Ha Joon, but our Min Joon is fine too.”
“Hmm…”
Seeing his father hesitate instead of immediately objecting made Ha Joon anxious. At this rate, the marriage might fall through.
That was why he had deliberately treated her even more coldly. He wanted her to become stronger if she was going to stand by his side.
That must be why she harbored so much resentment toward him.
In front of others he treated her well, but when they were alone he became a completely different person and looked at her with contempt.
That wasn’t how he truly felt,
Yet even now, whenever he got close, she still held her breath, and she flinched at the slightest brush of his fingers. She was obviously trying hard not to let it show.
On the outside she had become cold and proud, but seeing her unchanged reactions made his heart—and something lower—ache pleasantly.
Even now, as these thoughts ran through his mind, it was the same.
She said she’d have a child after graduating college… Was she seriously planning to wait until then?
“Phew…”
“Is something wrong, sir?”
Seok Hoon, his driver and personal secretary who was driving, asked when Ha Joon let out a deep sigh.
Seok Hoon had been with Ha Joon for ten years since high school, so it was extremely rare for him to sigh like this, which made it all the more curious.
“Hm?”
“You sighed so deeply I thought the ground might cave in…”
“Oh. Did I?”
Ha Joon thought he had only sighed inwardly because he didn’t want anyone to notice his worries, but apparently the frustration had escaped out loud without him realizing.

“I ate lunch late and in a rush, so I think I’m having indigestion.”
“Shall I buy you some digestive medicine?”
“It’s fine. I’ll just exercise when I get home.”
When they arrived home, he took off his jacket and handed it to Seo Ah, who was getting worked up over something trivial.
It was one of Ha Joon’s little fantasies.
When he was young, he had accidentally seen his mother take his father’s coat when he came home from work and help him prepare to leave for work the next day.
When his father came home, they would share what had happened that day, and when he left for work, they would go over the schedule together, encourage each other, and share light touches.
He had thought all couples did that.
Even though it wasn’t particularly affectionate conversation, his heart tickled every time she accepted whatever he took off and handed to her.
But then,
“You can do this yourself, Kang Ha Joon-ssi.”
When they were younger, Seo Ah used to call him “oppa.”
With cheeks like ripe peaches, she couldn’t meet his eyes or speak properly, and whenever she did manage to call him, her shy “oppa” was barely audible.
Yet ever since she returned from studying in France and they met again after six years, when they were alone she always called him “Kang Ha Joon-ssi.” When others were watching, she called him “oppa” confidently, no longer shy like before.
It was the same two-faced behavior he had shown her when they were young.
Because of what he had done, winning her over wouldn’t be easy.
He had wished for her to become stronger and had somewhat expected this, thinking she would naturally understand why he had no choice but to act that way, but apparently she wasn’t there yet.
Well, part of it was probably because he had rushed the marriage before she could realize it.
“…Fine. Next time I’ll call the helper.”
When he was preparing to leave from the main house for the first time, a maid had come in and offered to help him get ready.
He had immediately refused. His fantasy wasn’t about a maid helping him.
Soon after, he unbuttoned his shirt wide open, and Seo Ah turned around to look.
Ha Joon’s thick eyebrows twitched. Her reaction seemed like it would be fun, and he felt that bumping into each other like this might help them get closer, so he took one step at a time toward her.
“N-next time, please tell the auntie everything, even the things you told me.”
He blocked her path with his arm as she tried to hurry out.
“*gasp*”
And again, she held her breath. After they reunited, she had secretly tried not to show it, but now, truly startled, she held it openly, and his heart began pounding uncontrollably.
★
“What if I can’t do that?”
Seo Ah carefully exhaled through her nose the breath she had been holding.
At that, Ha Joon’s arm tensed. He could feel her warm, tickling breath.
Thump thump thump thump. The sound of someone’s heartbeat—whose, he wasn’t sure—filled the dressing room.
Once Seo Ah could breathe comfortably again, the unique scent emanating from him stabbed her nose, making her heart pound wildly. Realizing how loud her own heartbeat was and afraid it would be heard, she quickly continued.
“Y-you’re changing the rules. We agreed to play the perfect couple, but if we say different things, people might get suspicious.”
She still couldn’t face him while he remained shirtless.
When she wore heels, even if not in build, she at least reached his shoulders, but barefoot she only came up to his chest.
Did she have to wear high slippers at home too if she didn’t want to feel small next to him?
“The perfection I had in mind wasn’t this. Isn’t being a perfect couple about fulfilling our duties as husband and wife? You said you’d show me what proper wifely support looks like.”
Oh no. Was he upset because she hadn’t helped with breakfast? Embarrassed, she lowered her head a little even though she had been looking straight ahead.
“For breakfast… you should have woken me up.”
But the “duty” Ha Joon thought a wife should fulfill wasn’t just that. What was he going to do with this naive little thing?
Suddenly he remembered what he had seen that morning.
He had carefully opened the bedroom door to grab his workout clothes, and there she was, lying completely sprawled out in a big starfish shape on the bed, rotated 180 degrees.
It was a pose that perfectly suited the seventeen-year-old kid, not the proud woman she pretended to be now.
He had strictly told Yeon Suk not to go upstairs and to let her sleep as much as she wanted.
For some reason, he wanted to be the only one to see her like that.
“You wouldn’t wake up even when I tried.”
Damn it. So he saw. Mortified, Seo Ah dropped her head completely, scratched the back of her neck, and her face turned red.
“S-sorry. Starting tomorrow, I’ll be more tense.”
“Then I’ll look forward to the nights too.”

Okay. Looking forward…
As the intense heat from him moved away, Seo Ah let out a deep internal sigh and repeated his words in her head.
Wait, what? Looking forward? Why on earth is he looking forward to it??
“What do you mea—”
She turned around to ask what he meant, but the sight of him unbuckling his belt startled her into turning back again.
“Anything else you want to say?”
She just wanted to leave, but it felt like she had to say it now, so she continued while facing away from him.
“The baby! We agreed to have one after I graduate.”
“It seems you didn’t listen carefully when Mother said she would understand contraception.”
— Still, separate rooms are not allowed. I’ll understand up to contraception.
Min Jung’s words came back to her. At the time, Ha Joon hadn’t said anything or shown any change in expression, so she had just let it slide!
“We only need to look perfect to others. There’s no need to… do that at night when no one’s watching!”
“You’re still very naive. There are eyes even in places you can’t see.”
“Who do you think wouldn’t know you’re trying to satisfy your desires that way?”
An awkward silence fell again.
Ha Joon, who had been standing with her back to him, suddenly went quiet, so without thinking he turned around—and saw him approaching one step at a time.
His belt was unbuckled and not refastened, so his pants had slipped down a bit, revealing his pubic bone, and even the waistband of his underwear was visible.
Seo Ah’s already racing heart felt like it might burst out of her chest at any moment.
The moment he approached felt like it was in slow motion.
Not wanting to show weakness, she thought she shouldn’t look away, so she stared straight into his eyes. She absolutely could not let her gaze drop lower.
He was now right in front of her, tilting his head down and whispering into her ear.
“Then, should I get it from someone else?”
