Yoo Gun, too busy scheming to notice, failed to catch Lee Hyun’s expression hardening. Frustrated beyond control, Yoo Gun rambled on to himself.

Lee Hyun half-listened to Yoo Gun’s words but focused intently on the person who had apparently been grinning. He knew they hadn’t seriously moved against Yura yet.

Lee Hyun, who’d placed someone on Oh Se Jin, was aware they’d only been alone once—when he’d led him to the hotel on the first day—and nothing more.

Whether out of caution or luck, Jin Ho hadn’t created any situation where he could be alone with Yura.

Yet now, at this exact moment, the two had gone out—and not only that, but Oh Se Jin had apparently been in a good mood, meaning he must have seized an opportunity. And for him, that opportunity likely meant trying to sway Yura while alone with her.

“I’ll meet with CEO Baek and separate those two.”

At Yoo Gun’s voice, ready to act on such a simplistic plan, Lee Hyun mechanically stopped him.

“Don’t.”

“You heartless bastard. Fine, she’s not your sister—she’s mine.”

Lee Hyun frowned, watching Yoo Gun grumble irritably.

As Vice Chairman of Jin Hwa Group, Yoo Gun was known for his clean, straightforward business style—rational and objective in judgment above all others, which meant he rarely left loose ends or suffered losses.

The one exception where Yoo Gun lost all rationality was anything concerning his younger sister, Jin Yoo Ra. His emotions always got the better of him, leading to frequent mistakes—mistakes that invariably earned him scolding from Yura herself.

“If you really do that, Jin Yoo Ra will absolutely despise you.”

Whether Yoo Gun understood Lee Hyun’s warning or not, he groaned in frustration and roughly ran his fingers through his hair.

“Think rationally, like you normally do at work.”

“How can I stay rational when it’s about my only sister? You wouldn’t get it—you don’t even have a younger sibling. It’s impossible.”

“Hopeless pushover.”

The word naturally came to mind whenever Lee Hyun saw Yoo Gun worrying about Yura. Though it seemed unlikely, regarding Jin Yoo Ra, he truly was blindly devoted—hopelessly so.

“It’ll be a real mess if it gets out that she’s involved with Oh Se Jin.”

“What do you mean?”

“Father’s rushing Yura’s marriage.”

At this unexpected revelation, Lee Hyun’s brows drew sharply together.

He’d already heard rumors that Jin Kang Soo, CEO of Jin Hwa Group, was recently seeking political connections through marriage alliances.

Though Kang Soo had been secretly arranging meetings with several conglomerates, Lee Hyun hadn’t linked this information to Yura—partly because the eldest son, Yoo Gun, was still unmarried, and partly because the eligible children from those families were mostly daughters.

Dongho Industry had a son and a younger daughter—siblings like Jin Hwa Group—and the Youngjin Foundation had two daughters.

Thus, naturally, everyone assumed Jin Yoo Gun would be the one entering that marriage market. But hearing now that it was Yura’s marriage being discussed caught Lee Hyun off guard, stirring an unbidden tension within him.

“You’re still single yourself—Yura, already?”

“He’s wanted to marry her off quickly for a while. You know our father—he believes a woman helps the family best by making a good marriage.”

A sudden wave of disgust made Lee Hyun’s eyelid twitch involuntarily.

“And if he finds out she’s involved with Oh Se Jin?”

Lee Hyun paused, anticipating the outcome, but Yoo Gun finished the sentence plainly, as if it were obvious.

“He’d force her to marry into one of those connected families immediately. And if she resists, he wouldn’t hesitate to use any kind of pressure.”

“He’d force her out of Songrim and block her from ever working in concert planning again.”

“That would be no different from killing Yura.”

Yoo Gun’s words weren’t at all exaggerated. Jin Yoo Ra was the type who’d rather die than be completely restrained—bound hand and foot and locked away. She had not even the slightest intention of living according to her father’s wishes.

Lee Hyun took a deep breath and stood up.

“Why?”

“I’m going.”

“You’re leaving just like this?”

Yoo Gun looked up at Lee Hyun with dissatisfaction as he adjusted his clothes. Today of all days, Lee Hyun’s indifferent attitude—offering no help despite hearing such a desperate situation—felt especially disheartening.

“I’ve made a plan, so I need to move.”

“What?”

“Or should I just leave things be?”

Seeing Lee Hyun smirk teasingly, Yoo Gun hastily stood and grabbed his arm.

“You actually have a plan?”

“Just cooperate well.”

With that curt remark, Lee Hyun brushed Yoo Gun’s hand away indifferently and disappeared from the office. Yoo Gun’s insides burned with anxiety at Lee Hyun’s unpredictable actions.

“What’s going on? Why do I feel so uneasy?”

[This is the timeline separator]

Yura turned off the ignition, priding herself on having driven safely even while recalling that damn moment. One thing she resolved for certain: no matter what, she’d never again allow herself to be alone in a car with him, by any means or method.

“You’re already here.”

“Let’s get out.”

At his familiar, casual remark again, Yura stubbornly maintained her formality.

“How is it? Doesn’t it feel a bit more sophisticated and elegant than before?”

Though the completely transformed exterior made her wonder if it was even the same place, Yura silently followed him inside.

She was already swayed enough by him in their professional relationship—as a concert planner and artist. She had no desire to be personally influenced by pointless impressions or sentimental comments.

Just as they approached the rehearsal room door, Oh Se Jin’s manager suddenly appeared.

“Hyung, you’re here? I’ll— Oh, hello, Team Leader Jin.”

“Hello, Manager Ko Jin Woo.”

“Oh, yes.”

Caught off guard by Yura’s sudden presence, he gave an awkward smile as Se Jin confirmed his instructions.

“Did you air the room out?”

“Yes, yes. It’s been maintained well, so there wasn’t much to do.”

Se Jin gave a slight nod, then turned toward Yura and offered his hand.

“Let’s go in, Yura.”

His gesture was far too personal—and his words, spilling out so casually, were even more outrageous. His whole demeanor seemed to say he didn’t care about propriety since they weren’t at the office, which irritated her deeply.

Yura deliberately ignored his outstretched hand and repeated the same tiresome line she’d used too many times already.

“Pianist Oh Se Jin, please use proper titles when addressing me.”

Se Jin shifted his gaze to where Yura was looking—at Manager Ko—and stared at him, apparently believing Yura’s formality was all because of the manager’s presence.

“Jin Woo knows the kind of relationship we have. It’s fine.”

He’d completely missed the point. Yura looked at him with pity—how could he be so clueless about why she insisted on formality? His casualness sent chills down her spine; she couldn’t believe he said such things so nonchalantly.

“I’m uncomfortable.”

“Fine. Jin Woo, wait outside.”

“Huh? Ah, yes.”

Manager Ko bowed awkwardly and quickly disappeared around the building’s corner.

Yura was stunned by Se Jin’s way of shifting the discomfort she’d expressed onto someone else.

It was as if her presence had ruined his mood—and therefore, Manager Ko now had to bear the brunt of it. It almost seemed like Se Jin was trying to guilt-trip her through this dynamic.

He hadn’t been this petty before—what had turned Oh Se Jin into this person? Or had he always been like this, and she’d just never noticed? Seeing this changed version of him made Yura even more uneasy.

“You’ve changed a lot.”

“Are you finally starting to get interested in me?”

Whether she liked it or not, as long as they were professionally connected, Oh Se Jin had become an object of Jin Yoo Ra’s attention—but apparently, he wasn’t satisfied with the kind of attention she gave him.

Yura responded with a mocking, dismissive sneer.

“How old are you, that you’d harass an innocent person just to feel wanted?”

“If it bothers you so much, stop being so stubborn.”

For a moment, Se Jin’s eyes gleamed with a faint smile. His expression looked so unfamiliar—like he was a completely different person—that it sent a chill through Yura.

Wondering if she was being overly sensitive, Yura followed him in silence, without reply.

As she tried to recall what the rehearsal room used to be like, the fresh scent of grass filled her senses—so vivid it felt as if she were standing in a vast meadow.

Her eyes swept the interior and noticed countless plants placed everywhere.

Small potted plants lined shelves mounted on the large windows, and the windowless walls were decorated with wooden frames filled with various greenery.

Even the small terrace overflowed with potted plants, evoking the feeling of a miniature botanical garden.

She remembered once telling him how much she’d love to have a small greenhouse—how refreshing the scent of plants always was. The nature-friendly design of this rehearsal room clearly reflected that wish of hers, and though it looked nice, it stirred no further emotion in her now.

Instinctively, Yura sensed that with him—whose intentions she couldn’t decipher—every small action and meaningless word needed careful handling. She resolved not to allow any unnecessary misunderstandings or false connections to form.

Casually scanning the surroundings, she followed him to the sunlit window and spotted a familiar piano.

“Do you remember this piano?”

Se Jin gently ran his hand over the piano, his touch tinged with longing. Yura, however, stared at it blankly, completely unmoved.

“I went through a lot to get it. You wanted to buy it yourself back then, but it was quite expensive for us.”

The piano Se Jin leaned against with his arm draped over it was one Yura knew very well. Good memories were called memories; bad ones were just experiences. To Yura, this piano was merely a relic of past experience.

Back then, after a fierce clash with her father that cut off family support, and with Se Jin just a poor student scraping by, even buying such an unremarkable piano had been nearly impossible.

They’d desperately saved money from difficult jobs, sneaking around to avoid her father’s interference.

By the time they’d finally saved enough for the piano, Se Jin was already gone from Korea. Thus, for Yura, this piano remained an unpleasant instrument that only reminded her of past disappointments.

“It looks somewhat inadequate as a practice piano.”

“I’ve already ordered another piano—it just hasn’t arrived yet. This one’s fine for now.”

If the performer himself said it was fine, Yura saw no reason to add anything more. She simply nodded lightly and stayed silent.

She was here for piano rehearsal, not for nostalgic reminiscing—so there was no need to respond further to Se Jin’s words. Just as Yura turned to step aside and give him space to practice—

“Every time I saw this piano, I thought of you.”

This topic she never wanted to hear suddenly tripped her up.

Thinking of her now? Did he really believe that if he said such things, she’d revert to the pure-hearted Yura of the past and shed tears of joy? All Yura could manage was a hollow, disbelieving laugh.

“I still love you.”

Yura turned sharply. Her eyes fixed on Se Jin with a coldness deeper than ever before.

His attempt to show tenderness with damp, glistening eyes struck Yura as utterly hypocritical.

If not for their professional roles as performer and planner, she’d have slapped him across the face without hesitation. Her clenched fists were already damp with sweat.

Her voice, utterly devoid of longing or resentment, came out flat and dry.

“I feel nothing at all.”

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
