While eating tteokguk together on Lunar New Year’s Day, Seung Joo casually dropped a hint to Hye Sun as well.

[“The nephew of Chairman Kwon Jung Hyun of Dae Han Construction is the largest shareholder of our Dae Won Construction. When I became CEO, he secretly supported me without my even knowing.”]

[“Really?”]

[“I heard there was strong opposition from their board of directors when Dae Han Construction and our company formed a consortium. But he firmly backed Chairman Kwon’s position and pushed it through. Thanks to that project, our company got a chance to recover—so I owe him a great deal.”]

[“He really is someone to be grateful to. But why would he go that far for you?”]

[“He said he’s somewhat acquainted with Mother.”]

Hye Sun was puzzled—she had absolutely no recollection of such a person.

[“Me?”]

[“I don’t know the details myself. Wouldn’t it be quickest if Mother met him in person?”]

Seung Joo feigned innocence, speaking as if it were just a passing remark, but Hye Sun spent the entire Lunar New Year holiday racking her brain with curiosity.

Someone I knew long ago? When and where on earth did we meet?

Even after searching for news articles and looking at photos, she couldn’t quite place him.

But now that she knew this man—more precious to her than her own life—had received such immense help, she couldn’t just let it slide. Repaying kindness in full was her life’s motto.

Right after returning to work following the holiday, Hye Sun instructed her secretarial office:

“Please contact Managing Director Seo Hyun Woo of Dae Han Construction and say I’d like to meet him. Tell him I’ll go wherever is convenient for him.”
