From early morning, everyone at the Altvea Mansion was bustling about without a moment’s rest.

The mansion’s renovation was now complete. The servants were rushing about because of an event to be held here in a few days.

Unlike before, when it had been neglected, guests would now be visiting regularly, so goods were constantly flowing in and out of the estate.

The kitchen was in an uproar—not only preparing meals for the hundred or so servants who lived permanently at the mansion, but also cooking for the upcoming event. Likewise, the lobby and halls were abuzz with activity as everyone prepared to receive guests.

Despite all this commotion, there was one place in the mansion that remained tranquil.

It was the inner quarters where Calon stayed.

After returning from Count Hebrides’ estate, Calon had come straight here and had been residing at the Altvea Mansion ever since.

Though he owned mansions in other kingdoms as well, none of them held any particular affection for him.

Even his mansion in the Empire was no exception. The Emperor had once clicked his tongue and remarked, “Did you buy that Imperial mansion just to use it as a warehouse for your collections?”

There was nothing Calon could say to that. When one’s work kept them constantly on the move, there were often years when they spent fewer than a handful of days actually staying at home.

To him, the Ash Trading Company lodgings scattered across various regions felt far more familiar than his Imperial mansion.

Calon lifted his head and looked around the room he was in. The master’s private chamber—the very heart of the mansion—was so breathtakingly beautiful that even he, who had seen all the world’s splendors, couldn’t help but be impressed.

He’d assumed that, being in a remote corner of the kingdom, the overall quality would be somewhat lacking—but it seemed every architectural technique had been poured into this estate alone. This place alone could proudly stand shoulder to shoulder with any mansion on the continent.

‘That’s exactly why I wanted to see her reaction.’

He set down the documents he’d been holding and clasped his hands behind his neck.
