The Countess standing beside him merely patted his arm, as if trying to soothe her husband.

If Baron Gunter had acted so tactlessly, his wife should have stepped in to remedy the situation.

“What are you doing! You must also bring the gift I prepared for the Countess!”

Instead, she not only failed to stop her husband’s rudeness but went a step further, calling out to her own maid.

Moments later, the Gunter couple’s servants emerged from their ornate carriage, carrying a wooden box as lavish as the carriage itself.

“We’ve prepared a gift befitting the Count’s dignity—the finest items distributed by our trading house.”

“My husband and I spent several days carefully selecting each piece. Open the box at once!”

Madam Gunter confidently issued her command as though she were in her own home, right before the Count.

Her behavior left even the Count’s own servants standing behind him visibly flustered, but the Gunter couple was too preoccupied with showing off their gift to notice their surroundings.

When the box opened, the gifts inside were indeed exquisite enough to justify the Gunter couple’s pride.

Even Calon, watching from the side, thought they had clearly put in considerable effort.

‘Still, they can’t compare to the goods Nisha prepared and sent from our trading house.’

When Calon first heard the list of gifts Ael had requested from Nisha, he couldn’t help but worry whether such simple items would suffice.

So, just in case, he’d arranged for an additional gift to be prepared separately.

But Ino had blabbed about it and told Ael, who then came to him and said, “Were you so uneasy about my gift? It’s disappointing that you don’t trust me.”
