Thanks to spending more time than expected at the house on the hill, the carriage carrying the two of them arrived precisely at the agreed time at the Count’s mansion.

Kyle stepped down first and offered his hand; recalling what had happened just moments ago on the hill, Ael took it with great caution—but without appearing timid—and stepped onto the ground.

The Count’s mansion was a house imbued with history and tradition.

Though someone else might dislike it for being far too old, to Ael it was a beautifully preserved example of an ancient architectural style she had never seen in the capital.

Compared to the Altvea mansion they had just visited, its size was less than a tenth, yet the dignified atmosphere and grace accumulated over centuries were in no way inferior to Altvea’s grandeur.

Just then, another carriage came roaring loudly and swiftly toward the Count’s mansion.

From the roughly arriving carriage, a man and a woman quickly alighted.

Upon seeing Ael and Calon, they narrowed their eyes. Despite their not having introduced themselves, Ael immediately recognized who they were.

‘The Gunters.’

She knew it was terribly impolite to judge others by their appearance, yet the moment Ael saw the Gunter couple, she had an immediate intuition.

That she could never become close to these people.

As if to confirm Ael’s thoughts, the Gunter couple scanned Ael and Calon up and down, then spoke loudly enough for them to hear.

“We’d been expecting much since they said they were from Ash Company, but they’re nothing special.”

Inside, the Gunters rejoiced silently as they looked at the people from Ash Company.

They had expected senior staff members they personally knew—like Nisha or Ino—but these standing before them were complete strangers.
