You And I Live In Different Worlds (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 37
A sweet melody. The cloying scent of perfume. Elegantly dressed guests. And then…
“Your Grace, you’ve looked weary lately. If it’s due to your duties, perhaps my family and I could assist you in some way—please don’t hesitate to ask at any time…”
Edric half-listened to his dance partner’s whisper as he glanced toward one corner of the ballroom. Melie had just declined Count Ludens’ invitation to dance. Watching the embarrassed man turn away, Edric sighed.
“She still hasn’t gotten over it, I see.”
He remembered how Melie had accidentally stepped on the duke’s foot at Duke Claudius’ ball several years ago and suffered great embarrassment. He’d assumed enough time had passed for her to recover—but apparently, she was still haunted by that nightmare.
“My father would consider it an honor to aid Your Grace in any way. And I… feel the same.”
“Thank you, Miss Lorraine.”
Edric gave a distracted reply to the woman’s indirect confession, her cheeks flushed with shyness, then turned his gaze back to Melie.
She sat alone in a corner of the ballroom, scanning the scene like a mere spectator.
That vacant look irritated Edric.
“You’re the main character here—not an observer.”
He shot her a sharp glance.
But Melie, staring elsewhere, seemed completely unaware that he was watching her.
Edric shifted positions with Miss Lorraine to see what Melie was looking at.
She appeared to be watching Count Ludens—whom she’d just rejected—now dancing with another woman.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
