You Accepted the Contract (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 9
Mi Joo’s small lips clung tightly to him, as if unwilling to let go.
The sweet, drawing moisture from her.
Si Yoon was tormented by Mi Joo’s body, which clung so sensitively to even his slightest movement.
Every breath she took, every gesture she made—
he didn’t want to miss a single thing.
‘But no more…’
Knowing today had to end here, Si Yoon reluctantly pulled his lips away from Mi Joo’s.
He’d been cupping her cheeks with his hands, and now he carelessly, almost roughly, wiped her lips with the back of his hand.
Unlike their first kiss, Mi Joo’s lips were now swollen and puffy.
‘That must hurt.’
Following Si Yoon’s gaze, Mi Joo lightly licked her upper lip.
Unaware of what she was doing—or how such a tiny gesture affected Si Yoon—she then gently bit her lower lip and winced.
Each of Mi Joo’s small actions sent waves of stimulation through Si Yoon.
‘Why? It’s just her licking her own lips…’
He wasn’t sure whether what surged within him was simple lust or tender affection for Mi Joo—he wanted to understand his own feelings again.
His grip on Mi Joo tightened.
“Ah! That hurts.”
At her soft cry, Si Yoon quickly let go. He couldn’t let his uncontrolled desire hurt her.
Letting out a long sigh, he lowered his head onto her shoulder, lightly burying his forehead against her and continued,
“Don’t do that again.”
“What?”
Just by biting and licking her lips—such tiny actions—his thoughts and body were boiling over, yet she looked at him with innocent clarity, oblivious to everything.
Si Yoon lifted his head, placed his hands on her shoulders, playfully shook her a little, then let go.
Mi Joo swayed helplessly, fluttering even under that gentle nudge.
“A moment ago, Choi Mi Joo, you were wagging a fox’s tail, weren’t you?”
‘A… fox’s tail?’
Mi Joo’s face flushed red. Si Yoon felt himself blushing too.
No more closeness, no more touching—nothing at all.
“Let’s get up. It’s late tonight.”
Si Yoon stood and reached out to take Mi Joo’s hand, pulling her to her feet.
Mi Joo, too embarrassed by this unexpected contact to meet his eyes, wanted to end things right there.
“We’ll talk again when we meet tomorrow.”
“Again tomorrow?”
“We haven’t even signed the contract yet.”
“I’m not sure I…”
Interrupting her hesitation, Si Yoon spoke with firm assurance,
“Test complete. It’s just paperwork and a contractual relationship, but no one would ever doubt what’s between us.”
‘So this was just a test?’
Mi Joo’s expression darkened.
To ease her tension, Si Yoon gave a small smile and said,
“Oh come on, you little flirt—you were all over me, rubbing your lips against mine, kissing me everywhere, and now you’re pretending you don’t remember?”
Offended by being called a “flirt” and a “test,” Mi Joo snapped back,
“Who says one kiss means we have to help each other out with everything?”
“Does that mean two kisses would do it?”
As Si Yoon closed the distance again, Mi Joo instinctively tried to step backward—but bumped into the sofa and sank down helplessly.
From that position, she looked up at Si Yoon—towering, endlessly tall and imposing.
He reached out his hand. Drawn to him, Mi Joo took it, and Si Yoon pulled her up.
They stood close again, hands still warmly clasped—awkwardness returning in an instant.
Before the mood could shift further, Si Yoon mustered every ounce of his restraint and let go of her hand.
Mi Joo’s hand, now with nowhere to go, drifted toward her bag on the sofa as if to soothe her lingering longing.

“Wait. I’ll go change and come right back.”
“I can leave by myself.”
“I know.”
She knew—but the firmness in his tone left no room for refusal.
“I’ll just walk you to where you parked. You can’t go out like this.”
‘After having blurred my vision all this time, half-undressed as you were.’
“Your car’s pretty unique—did you pick a classic car on purpose?”
Si Yoon changed the subject to lighten the mood. Mi Joo was grateful—he called her mocked junker a “classic car” when everyone else teased her about it.
“It’s not a classic—I just bought the cheapest one I could find. Still took me a whole year of begging to get it.”
“It’d be dangerous if it broke down on the road.”
“I’ll manage to keep it running until graduation somehow.”
Seeing Mi Joo brush off her difficult reality so casually, Si Yoon’s expression hardened.
“Don’t struggle alone. It’s wise to take opportunities when they come.”
To Mi Joo, it sounded like he was urging her to accept his contract offer.
“But it’s not like I’m so desperate I’d take Kim Si Yoon’s proposal.”
“You might change your mind once you hear the specific compensation.”
Even if life was tough, Mi Joo didn’t want to be someone who gave in to money.
Sensing her thoughts, Si Yoon’s voice brightened a tone as he said,
“Wait. I’ll drive you.”
Si Yoon walked through the terrace into the first-floor living room.
Watching his retreating back, clad only in a swimming robe, Mi Joo recalled once more the heat they’d shared.
She remembered how she’d thrown herself at him the moment they were alone.
‘Right—I was the one who jumped first.’
Her heart raced at the memory of how completely focused she’d been on him.
And now, the temptation of money.
She felt she might never see Si Yoon’s face again.

Si Yoon came back out after changing and quickly drying his hair with a blow dryer.
But Mi Joo wasn’t on the terrace where she should’ve been waiting. Si Yoon looked around—her bag was gone too.
‘I told her to wait.’
He hurried across the pool and garden toward the gate.
Security lights turned on along his path, and the gate light illuminated as well.
Had she already left? Anxious, he quickly opened the gate and stepped outside.
Not far away, he spotted Mi Joo’s car. Even under the streetlight, its interior was clearly visible—and at that very moment, the troublesome car had died on her. He actually liked her troublesome car.
Inside, Mi Joo was struggling to start the engine. She hadn’t noticed Si Yoon approaching.
He walked up to the driver’s side and tapped on the window.
Tap tap.
Startled, Mi Joo looked up. She couldn’t see his face due to his height, but she knew it was Si Yoon.
‘Ugh, I came out like I was running away to fix this disastrous day and head home…’
Yet, here she was meeting Si Yoon again. Mi Joo exhaled softly, swept her hair behind her ears, composed herself, and rolled down the window.
He looked different—hands in the pockets of beige pants, wearing a white long-sleeve knit sweater.
His poised presence at the embassy, his bare-chested look by the pool in just a robe,
and now this casual appearance—all of them were perfect.
“You said you’d walk me out.”
“I can go by myself.”
She’d heard his firm offer to drive her, but the awkwardness in the air made her want to leave as fast as possible.
“…Your expression looks exactly like someone caught trying to run away.”
His tone carried clear displeasure at her behavior—but since she really had been trying to run, Mi Joo changed the subject.
“It’s not that—I just can’t get the engine started…”
She tried once more. At that moment, Si Yoon clicked open the driver’s door.

“I don’t like fixing things that don’t listen.”
“Can you fix it?”
‘Huh? That tone—so full of expectation—I never thought Kim Si Yoon, the man who lived his whole life brimming with supreme confidence, would ever sound like this.’
But seeing her wide, hopeful eyes sparkling like a cat’s after her earlier dismissal, Si Yoon softened.
He held out his hand. Entranced, Mi Joo took it and stepped out of the car.
As soon as he sat in the driver’s seat and turned the key, the car—previously motionless—roared to life. Mi Joo felt more frustration than joy.
“What the—so you’ve been messing with me this whole time?”
“Are you talking to me?”
“No! I’m talking to this car! I just spent so much on a new battery not long ago—why does it only start for someone else?!”
“It sure sounds like you’re mad at me.”
“I’m not!”
Annoyed by his teasing, Mi Joo snapped again.
“But Choi Mi Joo, you can’t go anywhere right now.”
“Why?”
“That grinding noise—it sounds like your flywheel gear is totally worn out.”
Si Yoon got out of the driver’s seat and stood in front of Mi Joo.
“No way.”
Mi Joo quickly slid into the driver’s seat, as if denying it couldn’t be true—because it shouldn’t be. But the car wasn’t on her side. The moment she sat down, it sputtered and died again.
“I need to go—why’s it doing this to me?”
Mi Joo helplessly smacked the steering wheel with both hands, then tried the ignition again. No response.
“Ugh…”
“Do you really hate me that much?”
“Huh?”
“You keep acting like you’re in such a hurry to leave. Almost like you’re trying to run away from me.”
Though Mi Joo’s insistence on leaving first was nothing serious, Si Yoon felt irritated and on edge.
“I’ll call a tow truck tomorrow. Let’s take my car.”
Mi Joo hesitated for a moment, then stepped out of her car and grabbed Si Yoon’s sleeve to stop him.
Si Yoon turned and looked down at the edge of his shirt she was holding.
Even while angry, he felt an inexplicable tenderness toward her—
this girl who acted bold but kept trying to slip away, who behaved cheerfully yet couldn’t bring herself to firmly hold onto him, only clutching lightly at his sleeve.
Noticing his gaze, Mi Joo gently let go of his sleeve and fiddled with her car key.
“What is it?”
“Don’t call the tow truck right away tomorrow. Try starting it first—sometimes, if you wait a bit, it starts again.”
She held out her car key toward Si Yoon.
“I will. Don’t worry so much.”
Si Yoon took the key and headed toward the garage. The garage door opened with a soft electronic chirp and the lights came on. Inside were luxury sports cars, sedans, and SUVs—the kind Mi Joo had only seen online.
“Hey.”
Mi Joo called out to him again.
“What now?”
This time Si Yoon laughed, as if to say, ‘What else could it be?’
“Don’t call anyone too expensive. Your standards and mine are completely different.”
“How are they different?”
“Look.”
Mi Joo gestured between the cars in front of her and her own parked far away, as if to remind him how different their situations were.
“What’s so different? Do I look like a fool who spends big money fixing broken cars and gets ripped off all the time? First you made me seem pitiful, then an undocumented immigrant.”
