You Accepted the Contract (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 15
Mi Joo, who had unwittingly ended up in Si Yoon’s arms, hastily tried to push him away but couldn’t regain her balance.
“Don’t be stubborn.”
Si Yoon slipped his hands behind Mi Joo’s knees and lifted her up effortlessly.
People eating in the restaurant stared in surprise at Si Yoon’s bold action, and a small cheer even erupted from one table.
“Put me down.”
Si Yoon ignored her completely and headed straight for the restaurant door. Knowing he wouldn’t listen even if she insisted further, Mi Joo had no choice but to stay in his arms until they reached the car.
And during the drive to Mi Joo’s home, neither of them spoke a word.
She wished he’d at least pleaded with her to sign the contract or explained his urgent situation.
‘Say something, anything.’
Mi Joo could only breathe in the awkward silence.
Just then, her phone buzzed loudly with an incoming message.
-Mi Joo. I’m heading back to my hometown. Might never come back again. Thank you for everything.
Mi Joo’s heart pounded anxiously at Jenny’s sudden message. She quickly called Jenny. After the ringtone sounded for a long time, the call connected just before it cut off.
Jenny’s voice at the end sounded shaky, mixed with sobs and uneasy breathing. Mi Joo grew anxious too at this unexpected news.
“What’s wrong?”
Si Yoon looked at Mi Joo with a concerned expression.
Jenny’s predicament wasn’t much different from Mi Joo’s own precarious life on a student visa, and Mi Joo felt tears welling up uncontrollably.
But she didn’t want to cry in front of Si Yoon, who seemed so calm and perfectly put together.
“Is it something bad?”
“She’s a friend I met while working part-time. It seems she’s having visa issues. They’re deporting her right now.”
“Oh.”
That was all he said—just a brief, indifferent sigh, without a single word of sympathy or comfort.
Mi Joo sighed deeply, frustrated by how no one seemed to understand their humble, struggling lives.
If Si Yoon, who knew exactly her situation, used this moment to press her about signing the contract, Mi Joo felt she’d truly be devastated.
Fortunately, Si Yoon didn’t say anything of the sort. At that moment, his silent driving felt overwhelmingly kind.
When Si Yoon arrived in front of Mi Joo’s house and turned off the engine to get out, Mi Joo grabbed his arm.
“Wait. I can go in by myself.”
She wanted to send Si Yoon away right here, but despite hearing her clear refusal, he carried her all the way to her doorstep.
“Put me down now.”
Only then did Si Yoon finally release her from his arms.
“You must’ve had a tough day. Get some good rest.”
“Thank you.”
Thinking this might be the last time she’d see Si Yoon, Mi Joo couldn’t bring herself to open the door and go inside.
“I’ll wait until tomorrow.”
“I’m sorry. Regarding the contract, I’ve already given you my answer, Si Yoon.”
Si Yoon placed his hand on Mi Joo’s front door handle—as if to say she couldn’t enter without his permission.
“No! Until tomorrow morning.”
He stated the deadline again, his voice as firm as the hand gripping the door.
“Aren’t you even worried about what I might decide, Kim Si Yoon? What if I suddenly…”
Mi Joo paused, unable to find the right word to finish her sentence.
“What if you suddenly what?”
“Well, I mean… what if I tried to seduce you, touch you, and later claimed we’d been in a de facto marriage all along—we dated and got married legitimately! What would you do then?”
Si Yoon gave a strangely amused smile.
“Do you really have the guts for that?”
“…”
“You don’t look like the type who’d dare threaten me that boldly.”
Worried she might appear naive, Mi Joo bristled.
“I’m not as kind or upright as you think I am.”
Not kind or upright? For some reason, at that moment, Bill’s face overlapped with Mi Joo’s in Si Yoon’s mind, and he grew irritated.
He had to forcibly suppress the urge to push aside her dress and check for himself whether there was a mark—on her neck, her chest, anywhere.

Feeling Si Yoon’s heated gaze fixed on her neck, Mi Joo quickly raised her hand to touch it, while Si Yoon continued in a cold but firm tone.
“If you really come at me with bad intentions, I’ll gladly enjoy that situation too.”
‘That impenetrable fortress of his—daring me to try seducing him if I can.’
Mi Joo gave a bitter smile.
Si Yoon pulled a key from his pocket and handed it to Mi Joo.
“What’s this?”
“You can’t use the classic car anymore. I parked the new one in the lot.”
Now that she thought about it, after dinner they’d meant to pick up the car together, but their emotions had clashed so fiercely they’d left without even stopping by the repair shop.
Yet when had he gotten the car key?
“But why are you doing this, Si Yoon?”
Startled by his kindness, Mi Joo instinctively took a step back.
“I don’t have any ulterior motive. You’ve injured your leg—how else are you supposed to get around without a car?”
Still, Mi Joo shook her head firmly, refusing to accept it. Si Yoon pulled her hand and pressed the key into it, but she rejected it again.
“I’m only doing this because I’m grateful for everything you’ve done for me so far.”
“Isn’t that a bit too generous just for gratitude?”
For Mi Joo, who’d grown up alone without parents or guardians, people usually offered pity or sympathy—not overwhelming generosity like this. Feeling burdened by Si Yoon’s style of care, she deliberately chose harsh words.
“Do you really think I’d sign just for something like this?”
Si Yoon placed his hand against the door, trapping Mi Joo between himself and the entrance, and leaned closer.
Why did Bill’s crude voice keep echoing in her head? Why wouldn’t those vulgar words she’d heard once just fade away? Even though she knew it couldn’t be true, Si Yoon snapped back fiercely.
“Then will you sign if I give you my car?”
Si Yoon took out his car key and tapped it lightly against Mi Joo’s cheek.
Mi Joo’s body trembled faintly, her breathing growing unsteady. Tears welled up in her eyes.
Yet she refused to let even a single tear fall—staring defiantly at Si Yoon without blinking, as if shedding tears now would wound her pride.
Seeing Mi Joo radiating anger with her whole body, Si Yoon wanted nothing more than to pull her close and comfort her warmly.
But knowing she’d surely reject him in her current state, he held back to avoid provoking her further.
“Take it. If you really hate it, just use it until your leg heals.”
“…”
“And come by tomorrow morning.”
Si Yoon pressed the car key into Mi Joo’s hand again—with a look that left no room for refusal. Then he opened the front door for her and turned to leave.

Even after Si Yoon left, Mi Joo remained seated dazedly on the sofa, not even changing clothes or washing up.
She didn’t understand why her chest felt hollow or why his face kept reappearing in her mind. The key in her hand still seemed to carry Si Yoon’s warmth.
As she sat there blankly once more, the doorbell rang.
“Huh? No one should be coming at this hour.”
Anxious, Mi Joo headed toward the entrance. Her injured leg slowed her down, and then came loud, insistent knocks on the door.
Bang bang bang.
Before she could even open the door, Mi Joo froze in place.
Mi Joo snapped out of her daze and unlocked the door.
Two officers, a man and a woman, stood outside holding documents. Their faces were completely expressionless, devoid of even a polite social smile. The man stepped forward, confirmed Mi Joo’s name, and asked about her visa status.
Though trembling, Mi Joo answered as calmly as she could.
The female officer flipped through several pages of the documents and handed them to the man. His expression grew grim.
Without looking up from the papers, the man replied to Mi Joo’s worried question.
He lifted the documents slightly toward Mi Joo and lowered them again. She couldn’t even see what they said, but the oppressive atmosphere left her too intimidated to ask to see them again.
Still keeping his eyes on the paperwork, the man continued in a rigid tone.
Then, with a grave expression, he began writing something on the document.
Mi Joo insisted there must be a mistake and tried explaining her situation to the immigration officer.
Then the female officer stepped forward and gave Mi Joo a look filled with pity.
Feeling understood, Mi Joo looked at the female officer as if she were her last lifeline.
The female officer pulled the male officer aside briefly and discussed something with him at length. Then she approached Mi Joo and handed her a receipt showing a specific amount, whispering quietly,
The male officer stepped forward disapprovingly.

Seeing the sum on the receipt, Mi Joo’s face fell with dismay.
The male officer shook his head, but the female officer spoke up again.
The male officer cut in firmly, making it clear he wouldn’t allow any further leniency.
Though she couldn’t raise the money immediately, Mi Joo said she could manage it by tomorrow—desperate to buy herself more time.
At that, the male officer pushed back strongly.
With trembling hands, Mi Joo handed over her passport and her entire current savings of 200 dollars to the immigration officers.
The man remained sternly disapproving, while the woman kept insisting on accepting the payment as a fine, and after some back-and-forth, they left.

Mi Joo felt confused and terrified.
‘Immigration officers have never barged in like this before.’
Now that she’d even surrendered her passport, fear surged through her—if she couldn’t pay the fine by tomorrow, she might end up dragged to the airport just like Jenny, without even time to pack her things properly.
Mi Joo stared again at the receipt lying before her.
An impossibly huge sum was written on it. She had no one to borrow from—and no one to ask.
“Why am I thinking of him?”
How much time had passed? It felt as though she’d spent the entire day just sitting there.
After a long, agonizing deliberation, Mi Joo stood up, receipt in hand—completely forgetting it was far too late at night to visit someone’s home.
Male lead is a Divorced Husband
She said to him: “Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change it!”

Liu Changning transmigrated into a female cannon fodder character in a female-dominant novel.
After reading the first half of the novel’s plot, the first thing she did upon transmigration was to divorce the Pan Jinlian-style male protagonist she had just married.
She indulged herself, pretending to be ugly and poor.
But as time passed, the way that man looked at her became more and more unusual…
Liu Changning was dumbfounded: Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change!
――
This lifetime, Pei Yuanshao was rejected by the same woman twice!
The first time, she drove him away. Forced by the situation, he endured the waves of anger in his heart, yielding and humbling himself.
That person lay slanted on a rocking chair, her sallow face emotionless: “If you don’t want a divorce, go cook!”
Pei Yuanshao’s face was dark and gloomy: “You!”
The second time, after the crisis in Jinling City was resolved, the new emperor sent someone to pick him up. He turned around, stammering: “I… I have to go. If you keep me…”
That person lay on the kang bed, her back to him, as if she had long anticipated this day, crisp and clear: “Goodbye!”
Pei Yuanshao was so angry his fingers trembled: “You… you!”
The mission of family and country made him restrain himself, averting his eyes and turning to leave this broken household.
Two years later, they met again. Seeing her ethereal face, his body shook like a sieve.
“She was originally a ‘she’!”
At the Qionglin Banquet, the top scholar of the imperial examination, a talented person with exceptional speech and conduct, all the unmarried young gentlemen from aristocratic families looked at her with shy and timid eyes.
The peerless imperial official Pei Yuanshao felt the anger in his heart erupt. He pointed at the woman surrounded by the crowd at the Qionglin Banquet, his thin lips slightly curled: “Little sister, I wants that person to be the wife-master of my Mingde Prince Manor.”
