You Accepted the Contract (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 12
Ten minutes ago.
As Mi Joo entered the bathroom, Si Yoon roughly splashed cold water on his face with both hands.
‘Haah.’
With a long breath he’d been holding back, he undid another shirt button to cool his heated body.
Splash.
The sound of shower water began trickling from the bathroom.
Si Yoon couldn’t help but let out a hollow laugh, utterly exasperated.
What kind of person carelessly flings open doors for just anyone, and then—instead of a quick wash—starts taking a full shower?
Just like the sound of the shower, Si Yoon’s heart began pounding violently in his chest.
And Mi Joo’s image vividly formed before his eyes, piece by piece.
Her tousled morning hair sticking out every which way, her lovely nape, her hair tied up high—exactly as she’d described—and even her face, glowing translucently in the morning sunlight.
Ugh… The more he thought about it, the dizzier his head became.
Imagining her supple figure—so snug against his waist just earlier—standing beneath warm water made him clench his fist tightly on the table.
“Whew.”
Si Yoon flapped his shirt collar, trying to fan away the heat.
Even now—but especially just moments ago—he’d been in real danger. When she stood right before him wearing only a loose shirt and shorts, fresh out of bed, calmly making coffee, he hadn’t known where to look.
If Mi Joo ever realized he was so acutely aware of her, she’d be terribly embarrassed.
So instead, he looked at her boldly, met her eyes directly—calmly, almost shamelessly so. But it was nearly unbearable.
He couldn’t pretend not to see Mi Joo standing right there before him, perfectly framed as if in a painting, close enough to reach with just an outstretched hand. He could barely breathe.
Right—painting. She was a work of art. Not something to touch casually, nor to ruin carelessly.
Yet when she pouted, sticking out her lips—already slightly swollen from their kiss last night—he couldn’t help the primal surge of heat coursing through his body and the tightening in his chest.
‘But she’s even taking a shower before coming out?’
It was like an innocent rabbit offering itself up to be devoured.
‘What? Does she really not see me as a man?’
Kim Si Yoon, of all people, reduced to a pitiful man in Choi Mi Joo’s eyes—exasperating as it was, it stirred a stubborn pride within him.
He kept taking deep breaths, wondering if there’d ever been a day in his life when he’d had to calm himself down this much.
Though the chaotic sound of water made it hard to steady himself, he gritted his teeth and endured. He sipped tea, closed his eyes, took deep breaths, and waited for his heartbeat to quiet.
Once his rationality returned somewhat, Si Yoon slowly looked around Mi Joo’s apartment.
On one side of the room, art catalogues and half-finished manuscripts were scattered about. Si Yoon stood up and examined the desk from a short distance, eyes only.
“Exhibition planning? Or art critique?”
Given that her father was a ceramic artist, he could roughly guess what kind of work she did—she’d clearly grown up immersed in art and culture.

When Mi Joo entered the bathroom, she’d only meant to wash her face, but out of daily habit, she immediately stripped off her clothes and turned on the hot shower as soon as she stepped inside. Under the warm stream, her tension melted away.
As her body and mind relaxed, she began mentally listing today’s tasks.
‘First, I need to check the repair estimate from the auto shop.’
Even though Si Yoon had offered to fix it himself, she couldn’t fully accept his help like that.
‘And I have to finalize the contract discussion.’
She understood his situation, but she also needed to clearly state her own position—she couldn’t keep Si Yoon waiting indefinitely. Mi Joo hurriedly finished her shower.
After patting her damp body dry, she set down the wet towel and began drying her hair with a fluffy dry one.
But something felt off. A strange emptiness gripped her chest, and a cold shiver ran down her spine.
“……”
Mi Joo quickly turned around. Her underwear and clothes, left on the floor, had already gotten soaked from the bathroom humidity.
“I must be losing it.”
Her head spun. She’d automatically walked into the bathroom and stripped for a shower without thinking.
If she’d been alone, she would’ve just walked out without a second thought—but right now, Si Yoon was standing firmly outside the bathroom door, and she hadn’t brought any fresh clothes or underwear with her.
The only thing left was a single shower towel on the shelf.
“I really must be out of my mind.”
Mi Joo quickly grabbed the towel and wrapped it around herself. Then, unsure what to do next, she just stared helplessly at the door.
No matter how she thought about it, there was no way—well, no way that was less mortifying—to safely escape the bathroom.
She’d either have to step out or ask Si Yoon to bring her some clothes.

‘Right. He’s not a man. He’s just someone who likes men! I should act totally normal.’
She told herself this firmly, yet her instincts couldn’t help registering Si Yoon’s solid, masculine presence.
“No matter how you look at it, how could anyone not see him as a man? Look at him—he’s perfectly built and practically radiating ‘I’m a guy’ energy. How?!”
Startled by her own outburst, Mi Joo clapped a hand over her mouth and stamped her foot in frustration.
“Right, what’s the big deal about forgetting to bring fresh clothes into my own home? It happens!”
Convincing herself that Si Yoon would surely understand, since it was just a habit of hers, she tried to soothe her racing nerves—but still couldn’t muster the courage to open the door and call out to him.
Time dragged on, and even the once-warm bathroom began to cool.
Mi Joo stamped her foot again, cursing herself once more.
While throwing yet another private tantrum in the bathroom, she slipped on the wet floor and fell with a slide.
“Eeek!”
Si Yoon froze, doubting his own ears—but yes, that was definitely Mi Joo’s scream.
In an instant, he rushed to the bathroom door and pressed close to it.
“Ms. Choi Mi Joo! What happened?”
He held his breath, ear against the door—but Mi Joo’s voice on the other side was too faint to hear clearly.
Worried she might’ve had a slipping accident, Si Yoon rapped his palm against the bathroom door.
Tap tap tap.
“Ms. Choi Mi Joo, are you okay? Can I open the door?”
Hearing this, Mi Joo barely managed to grab the doorknob and shouted back in alarm.
“No! Don’t!”
Relieved by her loud voice, Si Yoon finally let out a breath—though Mi Joo herself was startled by how fiercely she’d just yelled.
“I must be losing it.”
“You didn’t get hurt, did you?”
“……”
“Ms. Choi Mi Joo?”
“Yes… I’m fine.”
But she wasn’t fine at all. Her ankle throbbed, refusing to bear weight, and her wrist ached from instinctively bracing against the fall.
“Anyway, I need to ask for some clothes.”
But shock from the fall had caused her muscles to seize up, making movement difficult.
“Um… sorry, but…”
“Yes?”
“Could you help me?”
Her voice dropped again.
“You need help?”
“Yes.”
Si Yoon racked his brain, trying to imagine what kind of help she might need from inside the bathroom—consciously pushing aside any impure thoughts, focusing only on the most humanly reasonable scenarios.
Yet no plausible reason came to mind.
“How exactly can I help?”
“I… didn’t bring clothes to change into.”
Upon hearing this, Si Yoon briefly pictured Mi Joo’s figure—water cascading over her pale skin, soap bubbles sliding down her smooth, gleaming body.
While Si Yoon stood lost in thought, Mi Joo—growing impatient—called out again.
Knock knock.
“Kim Si Yoon, are you listening?”
Snapping back to reality, Si Yoon teased her playfully.
“Why not just come out wrapped in a towel!”
“Are you insane?”
“Huh? Then how am I supposed to help? Should I barge in like a madman?”
“I’m sorry! I take back the ‘insane’ part.”
Part of Si Yoon really wanted to act like a madman and fling the door open—but hearing Mi Joo’s softened voice again, he pressed his ear back against the door.
A faint, pained whimper reached his ears. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, Si Yoon knocked again.
“Ms. Choi Mi Joo, you’re hurt!”

Mi Joo tried desperately to stand, but quickly understood it was no use.
“Open the door.”
“I can’t! I don’t have any clothes!”
Si Yoon grew frustrated. Was clothing really the issue here? She was clearly injured—he needed to open the door and check on her immediately.
“Open the door. Now.”
“……”
“Aren’t you the one who said I like men!”
He hadn’t wanted to say it, but if it would reassure her, he had no choice. Slightly encouraged by his words, Mi Joo tentatively reached for the doorknob again.
“Hurry up.”
At Si Yoon’s final urging, the door clicked open.
Si Yoon rushed in and knelt beside Mi Joo, who was sitting on the floor. His hands moved over her half-covered body as he checked her condition, and Mi Joo felt not pain—but overwhelming embarrassment.
“There’s no blood. I checked everywhere myself.”
Hearing this, Si Yoon let out an amused chuckle.
“You’re not a child—just because there’s no blood doesn’t mean you’re fine.”
“It feels like I just twisted my ankle.”
Si Yoon glanced at her leg and then lifted her into his arms in one swift motion. Instinctively, Mi Joo wrapped her arms around his neck as she was enveloped in his strong embrace.
After settling her onto the sofa, Si Yoon crouched down and gently held her ankle.
“Ah….”
He looked up at her, eyes filled with apology.
“My left ankle’s always been weak. I’ve sprained the ligaments a few times before—must be the same thing again.”
“Anywhere else hurt besides your ankle?”
“…I’m okay.”
Careful to avoid the painful spot, Si Yoon gently massaged her calf and foot. Even through the pain, Mi Joo found his touch ticklish.
“You can stop. That part doesn’t hurt.”
“Let’s go to the hospital once you’ve calmed down a bit.”
Through the thin towel barely covering her, Si Yoon clearly saw Mi Joo’s startled chest rise and fall lightly.
She tried covering herself under his gaze, but the gesture felt pitiful, so she quickly dropped her hands—and instead grasped Si Yoon’s hand, which was still gently kneading her leg.
“I’m fine. Really, you can stop.”
Si Yoon’s eyes, fixed on her, brimmed with regret and concern.
“Can I… hold you for a bit?”
Mi Joo’s eyes widened at his unexpected request. Without waiting for her answer, Si Yoon pulled her into his arms.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were hurt and was just fooling around.”
What haunted him even more was having imagined her undressed form while completely unaware she was injured—that thought weighed heavier on his conscience. But he couldn’t bring himself to say it aloud.
Wrapped in Si Yoon’s warm embrace and gentle words, Mi Joo’s tension finally eased. She raised her hand and patted his back softly.
“Thank you. For helping me.”
But human hearts can change as quickly as flipping a palm. The scent of her shampoo, the smooth line of her shoulders, and her body barely concealed by the bath towel—all began stirring awareness in Si Yoon once more.
“Ms. Choi Mi Joo.”
“Yes?”
“I must be a real piece of trash.”
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
