You Accepted the Contract (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 11
Mi Joo took the business card, hastily greeted him, and hurried back upstairs to her home.
After catching her breath for a moment, Mi Joo gently pushed aside the window curtain and peered outside. He was still standing in front of his car, arms folded.
Apparently spotting Mi Joo, he unfolded one arm and gave her a light wave.
Seeing his greeting, Mi Joo quickly ducked back inside.
“What? He’s still not gone?”
She’d peeked outside just in case—and seeing Si Yoon still standing there exactly as before made her heart race, as if she’d been caught spying on him.
He’d waved gracefully with one hand, while she’d startled like a fool and hidden away—just the thought of it embarrassed her.
Leaning against the wall, Mi Joo absentmindedly ran her fingertips along the edges of the business card he’d given her, replaying her awkwardness over and over.
She grew even more dejected, feeling like she’d been setting new personal records for embarrassing moments all day long.
She looked again at the card he’d handed her. It bore his title: Professor in the Business Administration Department at the state university. Suddenly, she recalled something Jenny had mentioned the last time they’d met at the supermarket.
“Mi Joo, did you know there’s a famous Korean guy at our state university?”
“No idea?”
Jenny pulled out her phone and showed Mi Joo her social media feed.
“Look at this.”
A man was pictured with a pencil tucked behind his ear, intently studying some academic papers.
He wore only a vintage T-shirt, yet the photo clearly hinted at his physique.
“He’s handsome. Who is he?”
“He looks like a student—or maybe a model?”
“He’s a model.”
“Right? Anyone can tell he’s a model.”
“But…”
“He’s actually a professor.”
“What?”
Mi Joo examined the photo on the phone again. No matter how she looked at it, he didn’t seem like a professor at all. He appeared about student age—but even then, he didn’t look like an ordinary student.
‘I thought it was just a staged model photo… but he’s a professor?’
“They say he’s super popular at the university too. Honestly, with looks like that plus solid professor skills, he’s totally someone to look up to. Mi Joo, have you ever seen him at the Korean Association or something?”
“How would I ever run into someone like that?”
She didn’t even know who he was—and convinced she’d never cross paths with someone like him in her lifetime—she quickly lost interest and hurriedly loaded items into her cart.
Now realizing that man was Si Yoon, Mi Joo felt like the ultimate natural-born introvert, someone who’d failed to recognize a celebrity standing right before her eyes.
“Well, his real-life looks are way better than in photos, so I guess it’s understandable I didn’t recognize him.”
Mi Joo spent the entire night scouring the internet. Si Yoon’s photos had already spread everywhere across social media, making it incredibly easy to find images of him.
“He’s impressive and so cool.”
Mi Joo kept closing her phone bitterly as she compared herself to him, only to pick it up again moments later.
Gradually, her expression hardened—the countless comments beneath his photos weighed heavily on her heart.
– “He’s totally my type.”
– “He’s obviously gay just by looking at him.”
– “Come visit us here!”
Beyond that, endless sexually suggestive remarks and crude links filled the comment section.
Unverified rumors kept piling up, claiming he had zero interest in women or that he was definitely gay.
– “If someone doesn’t address rumors like these themselves, isn’t that basically admitting they’re gay?”
Mi Joo turned off her phone screen. Just imagining how hurt Si Yoon must feel from all the criticism and mockery filled her chest with pain—and yet, she couldn’t understand why she felt such sympathy for his situation.

The next morning, Si Yoon parked his car in front of Mi Joo’s building once again and headed straight up to her fifth-floor apartment.
He stood firmly at her door and, without hesitation, pressed her doorbell. Immediately, sounds of movement came from inside.
“It’s Kim Si Yoon.”
The shuffling inside momentarily stopped. Soon after, the door cracked open slightly, the safety chain still engaged, revealing Mi Joo’s face through the narrow gap.
“It’s me.”
“Huh? Why are you here, Mr. Kim Si Yoon?”
“Aren’t you even curious about your car, which you left with me?”
“But showing up at a time like this!”

Mi Joo closed the door, unlatched the safety chain, and opened it again.
“Why didn’t you answer your phone?”
Si Yoon confronted her the moment the door opened.
“You called me?”
“I called three times. When you didn’t answer, I came up.”
Mi Joo lightly tapped her forehead with her clenched fist.
“Sorry. I was in the laundry room. Please come in first.”
She swung the door wide open and gestured inside.
“Oh—it’s a total mess in here.”
She instantly regretted her words, but it was too late.
Si Yoon brushed past her and confidently stepped inside. With no other choice, Mi Joo closed the door and followed him in.
The place was merely a studio apartment—a bed, a sofa, and kitchen furniture along one side.
With Si Yoon stepping into this small space, the entire room felt instantly crowded. He turned to face Mi Joo and spoke gravely.
“You shouldn’t just swing your door open to any man who shows up—that’s dangerous, isn’t it?”
“But you came here unannounced without even making an appointment…”
Mi Joo resented that Si Yoon was blaming her for opening the door. Should she have left him waiting outside or told him to go away? She briefly considered kicking him out right then and there.
“Has any other man ever come here before?”
Finally, Mi Joo snapped back sharply.
“Whether I bring men or women into my own home—what’s it to you?”
“Didn’t your father ever warn you? That all men are wolves?”
“…”
Bringing up her nonexistent father left Mi Joo speechless.
She had no family—not just her father, but no relatives at all. Reported missing at age three, she grew up in a group home until reaching adulthood.
During her senior year of high school, she’d applied and been accepted to a U.S. school, eventually moving to America with independence support funds from the group home and a special scholarship granted due to her status as an orphan.
For Mi Joo, the word “family” carried both longing and pain. She had no desire to reveal her painful past to people who didn’t truly know her—including Si Yoon.
“I only let you in because you’re Kim Si Yoon. Anyway, you clearly don’t care about women or their homes, right?”
She retorted sharply. In that moment, Si Yoon silently felt fortunate that Mi Joo’s deep misunderstanding had made it easy for him to enter her home so readily.
As Si Yoon smiled pleasantly, Mi Joo again became painfully aware of her messy apartment.
The sofa was cluttered haphazardly. Her bed was unmade, clearly just risen from. Personal items were scattered everywhere.
But since she’d already invited him in, it was too late to take it back.
Pretending composure, Mi Joo walked toward the sofa and began hurriedly gathering up her things. With every movement, her loose tank top and shorts rode up and down, revealing glimpses of her body.
‘This is going to be awkward first thing in the morning.’
Si Yoon clenched his molars so tightly his jaw twitched.
Unaware of Si Yoon’s inner turmoil, Mi Joo finished tidying the sofa and glanced toward the dining table. Deciding it was better than sitting side-by-side on the sofa, she pulled out a chair and gestured for him to sit.
“Would you like some coffee?”
Without a word, Si Yoon walked over and sat in the chair she’d offered.
Mi Joo turned around to brew coffee and began rummaging through the cupboard for a nice cup. Finding nothing suitable despite repeated searches, she finally grabbed a free mug she’d received from a donut shop.
Si Yoon quietly watched Mi Joo’s busy back as she prepared the coffee alone.
By the time the coffee aroma filled the room, Mi Joo turned around and placed the cup before Si Yoon—only then becoming suddenly self-conscious under his gaze.
She grew dizzy just imagining how she must look through his eyes.
‘He probably doesn’t even care about someone like me…’
Yet, the instinctive feminine embarrassment in front of an attractive man was impossible to conceal.
Her barely-there outfit, disheveled hair, and messy bun tied haphazardly atop her head.
‘Ugh. I look like a total mess…’
If an executioner from a bygone era were reincarnated today, this would be exactly how he’d look. Mi Joo couldn’t even meet Si Yoon’s eyes and turned away again.
“There was some cookie around here somewhere…”
She began rummaging through drawers and shelves for cookies that didn’t exist, all while trying to figure out what to do.
‘Maybe I should just nonchalantly put on a shirt.’
No—that wouldn’t solve the problem of her clearly exposed legs.
‘Then maybe change into a T-shirt and sweatpants?’

That was impossible too. In a studio apartment like this, where could she possibly change out of her shorts?
Setting clothes aside, she at least wanted to fix her messy hair. She could simply undo her hair tie and re-tie it—yet, painfully aware of Si Yoon standing right behind her, she couldn’t even make that small move.
‘Screw it. They say even dogs eat whatever they please in their own homes—so why can’t I do what I want in mine?’
Mi Joo spun around abruptly. Si Yoon was watching her intently with deep-set eyes.
‘Wh-what are you staring at!’
Yet Si Yoon showed no surprise at her sudden turn, nor did he look away.
‘Even if I were standing here completely naked, he’d probably just find it curious—with zero feeling.’
Mi Joo became certain that nothing she did would ever faze Si Yoon.
Looking at his steady gaze and expressionless face, she felt ashamed for having been embarrassed about her sleepwear as a woman.
Si Yoon finally broke eye contact and lifted his teacup.
“My car still needs repairs, and I’ve got a lot to do—so you should probably drink your coffee first.”
He urged her to sit down quickly, but Mi Joo leaned against the sink, keeping her distance.
“How’s the car doing?”
“The engine’s still acting up, so I sent it to the repair shop. Let’s go together.”
“Uh, sure—but I just woke up and haven’t even showered yet.”
Wanting to appear confident, she folded her arms and crossed her legs against the sink—just like Si Yoon had stood by his car yesterday. She knew her soft breasts pressed against her arms would look more pronounced, but she stubbornly held the pose.
‘He won’t care anyway.’
At Mi Joo’s almost defiant stance, one of Si Yoon’s eyebrows twitched—but his voice remained cool as he spoke.
“Then go shower first.”
“Exactly! You can’t just barge in like this. You should’ve at least called… or better yet, made an appointment before coming over.”
Pouting with clear irritation, she looked so cute that Si Yoon couldn’t help but smile at her.
“Alright, alright—I get it. Go shower and come back out.”
Hearing Si Yoon’s gentle tone, Mi Joo lost any remaining excuse to stay angry and headed into the bathroom.
Ten minutes later, a scream echoed from inside.
‘No way!’
Si Yoon shot up from his seat and rushed toward the bathroom.
