The ones most surprised by those words were, of course, Cordelia and Leonard.

Since the unexplained disappearance of a noblewoman would severely tarnish her family’s reputation, only a few close acquaintances knew that Lydia had vanished. Thus, Hayden’s expression remained largely unchanged from before.

“Lydia Elfenbaum is here? I thought Rosenblu wasn’t at the Mage Guild right now.”

“Where is she?”

Leonard asked the mage who had brought the news. The mage took a deep breath to steady himself before speaking.

“She’s at the entrance. She came looking for you, Lord Leonard, so I was sent to deliver the message.”

“How does she even know I’m here—never mind. I’ll find out once I go talk to her.”

“Hurry, Master.”

Cordelia, too, stamped her foot impatiently, urging him on upon hearing about Lydia.

The two walked together toward the entrance of the Mage Guild. They could spot Lydia from afar—she was surrounded by a circle of young male mages.

“Lydia!”

Cordelia pushed through the group. Lydia greeted her with her usual kind and gentle smile.

“Cordelia. Have you been well?”

“Well? That’s what I should be asking you! Where have you even been all this time?”

“There’s a decent place near the guild where we can talk. Let’s go there.”
