Cordelia opened her eyes wide and poured every ounce of her strength into the spell. The more she did, the faster the runes of the magic circle coiled tightly around both Nazaboot and herself.
Strange as it was, a faint laugh escaped Cordelia’s lips. She finally felt she’d discovered the purpose she’d been searching for.
‘Maybe I’ve lived my whole life just for this moment.’

Her troubled heart gradually calmed. She pulled out the short dagger Lamyu had given her and plunged it straight into Nazaboot’s chest. It wouldn’t go in easily, so she gripped it with both hands and pushed with all her might until it finally slipped between the ribs.

The demon writhed in agony. Yet Cordelia didn’t even blink—she focused even more intently on her spell, channeling all her magic at full power.
“Cordelia! Let go of it! Drop it right now!”
Leonard had somehow reached her side and yanked at Nazaboot. He was pressed so tightly against Cordelia that she couldn’t safely target him with her magic. Nazaboot had already lost more than half his form—now resembling a sticky, liquid mass that clung to Cordelia’s arms and legs.
