Who Regressed the Timekeeper? (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 48
Amy placed the neatly folded letter onto the altar and weighed it down with a heavy stone so it wouldn’t blow away. Then she stepped back.
“Let’s head back now.”
As Amy turned around, Dwayne jumped in surprise, glancing back and forth between her and the altar.
“What? Is that it? That’s the end?”
“Yes.”
Leaving behind the bewildered gazes of the others, Amy crossed the clearing toward the cliff, recalling her memories from before her regression.
One day while imprisoned, a chatty guard had told her the news that the North had been thrown into chaos.
“You see, those foreign tribes beyond the Black Mountains who kept invading the North—they finally found something worth coveting there.”
The Viscon clan had always been ruled by a family structure where the eldest son monopolized everything. But when the previous leader, after waiting so long for a son, finally had a child and the boy grew old enough, trouble arose.
The midwife who had delivered the child confessed that she had switched the babies. The entire clan erupted in turmoil. The boy who had been raised as the leader’s heir was immediately cast out. When they went to the place the midwife had named to find the real child, no one was there—only faint traces of someone having lived there long ago remained.
From that moment on, the Viscon clan plunged into a cauldron of chaos.
“‘How can we find the missing child now?’ some argued, ‘We should just pick a successor from a collateral branch.’ Others insisted, ‘How can we trust the midwife’s word? The cast-out boy must be the true heir!’—and so internal strife broke out.”
The guard clicked his tongue and then continued with an even more thrilling tale.
“But you know, that clan possessed a wondrous magical artifact—one said to determine the bloodline of an ancient god. The ruling family of the Viscon clan claimed descent from that ancient deity, so with that artifact, they could verify whether the boy they’d raised was truly their own.”
At this point, the guard shook his head regretfully.

“Shall I… feed you?” she asked tentatively.
He opened his mouth cheerfully: “Ah—”
