Se Hyun, who knew that one had to be careful when Gi Dae Woong’s eyes gleamed like steel, hurriedly spoke up.

“Relax your eyes. If you go off the rails, it’ll be hard to handle you. Should I call Ms. Ga Eul?”

“Ga Eul will soon take me to Chairman Ki’s house. Didn’t I already tell you that the old lady asked her to bring me along?”

“You did. Yes, you did. Testing my memory now? But are you really going? You swore you’d never set foot in that house again.”

“I have no choice. I must go. There’s something I need to retrieve from there.”

“Something to retrieve? What exactly? Just say it straight out—no beating around the bush.”

“Fingerprints. Those of Ki Heung Sik, Ki Sang Yong, Ki Dae Cheol, and Gi Mi Ryeong.”

Only then did Se Hyun realize what Dae Woong intended. Dae Woong planned to send their fingerprints to the New York Police Department—to compare them against prints found inside the car his deceased father had been driving, in order to reopen his father’s case file.

“If that’s your goal, there are better methods. Rent a place like a Korean restaurant. That way, you won’t have to enter that house you despise, and collecting fingerprints would be easier too—just negotiate with the restaurant to buy the utensils used by the Ki family. Bribing someone from Madam Joo’s household must be difficult, after all.”

“That’s a good idea. Consider my earlier statement about cutting ties withdrawn.”

Se Hyun stared blankly at Dae Woong. Apparently, Dae Woong’s memory wasn’t functioning properly—when exactly had he ever told *him* he was cutting ties?

“But Chairman Ki’s fingerprints aren’t necessary, right? He hadn’t been to the U.S. around that time.”

“That’s true. But the detective wouldn’t tell me *where* exactly in my father’s car those prints were found. They could’ve come from a bag or similar item, meaning they might have been sent from Korea.”

“You’re thorough—or should I say, cold-hearted? You’re seriously considering the possibility that your own father killed his son.”

“It’s not necessarily that. For now, I just want to investigate everyone who had contact with my father near the time of his death.”
