Chairman Oh seemed to have chosen self-pity over apology.

“You think you’re the only victim here? I’ve lost a great deal in this incident too. Because of this, I’ve lost the heir to my group—the child I’d planned to pass on the conglomerate I built over my lifetime.”

How precious must that child have been—someone destined to inherit the group he’d spent his entire life building? To be betrayed by such a child must have delivered a tremendous shock. His remark about losing the group’s heir even suggested he’d abandoned all thoughts of passing the group to that son.

If this were a performance, Chairman Oh would have made an excellent drama PD. The remorse of an elderly man possibly stricken with serious illness! Even Ga Eul’s heart couldn’t help but waver.

Still, Ga Eul pulled herself together, reminding herself not to forget her purpose here. Hadn’t she come to accuse yet another person Chairman Oh held dear?

Without speaking, Ga Eul took out her phone and showed Chairman Oh the video she’d recorded earlier that day. At first, Chairman Oh appeared unable to grasp the significance of the footage, even after watching it several times. Finally, he looked deeply into Ga Eul’s eyes.

“I happened to witness this scene while visiting the department store earlier today. That’s someone who works at your residence, isn’t it? When I first came to meet you, this person introduced both Gyeo Wool and me to you. Our President informed me the other person was Son Su Kyeong.”

Chairman Oh’s pupils visibly trembled. It seemed Ga Eul knowing both individuals was not something he’d anticipated.

“Butler Yang.”

“Ah—I see. Son Su Kyeong gave Butler Yang several instructions regarding food, and Butler Yang mentioned that you rarely come home and that Madam Jang Ji Hong’s depression has worsened significantly. One might view it as an ordinary conversation.”
