They searched the resort thoroughly, yet the President was nowhere to be seen. Ga Eul pulled out her phone, thinking she should at least call him, but then shoved it back into her bag.

She wanted to see the President’s face—not because she had anything specific to say to him.

After swimming and then wandering around searching for him, her body felt unbearably heavy. Ga Eul trudged back to her lodging.

She longed to lie down, but something she needed to do came to mind.

Ga Eul took out her phone again. She had to ask Chairman Oh Gyu Baek about the land—and about her father. That was a call she could only make when alone. She dialed his number.

She needed to hear it right away. “I’ll tell you when I’m ready”—about my father? When the hell *will* he be ready?

Until my father’s issue is resolved, I don’t think I’ll be able to approach the President. After all, the President’s already preparing to return to the U.S.—Ga Eul had confirmed it herself in the video stored on the SD card returned by the police.

She’d assumed he wouldn’t leave until his revenge was complete, but maybe that wasn’t true—if he could carry out his revenge even from America.

—What’s this, a rare call from you?

She’d expected he might not pick up, but Chairman Oh answered.

“This is Ga Eul. I have something I’d like to ask you, Chairman—about my father.”

—Why are you asking me about your father?

“I heard you initially promised to invest in my father’s company, only to later reverse that decision. I also heard you harshly criticized him.”

—Yes, that did happen.

“I’d like to know why you did that.”
