Gi Dae Woong went to India. Before leaving, he earnestly warned Ga Eul to be careful and strictly forbade her from even approaching his office.

This was because Oh Myung Se had been released after the court ruled against his detention, citing no risk of evidence tampering or flight. As a result, Oh Myung Se would now face trial without being detained—effectively granting him the opportunity to commit further crimes.

When Ga Eul argued that Oh Myung Se wasn’t some sworn mortal enemy, and after all the commotion he’d caused, he surely wouldn’t show up again, Dae Woon launched into a lengthy lecture. In short: Oh Myung Se was dangerous, and no amount of caution was excessive.

As he spoke, Dae Woon handed her a necklace. Though it was her first time receiving a necklace from a man, Ga Eul felt not a trace of romance—largely because the necklace itself looked exactly like what it was: a self-defense tool.

Dae Woon watched right there as Ga Eul put it on, instructing her to press the button on the pendant whenever she sensed danger.

Pressing the red button would emit a loud alarm to attract attention, while pressing the blue button would send out a signal revealing Ga Eul’s current location.

“What happens if I press both?”

Ga Eul had expected the president to snap at her for asking such a question, but surprisingly, he kindly explained that pressing both would simultaneously trigger the alarm and transmit the location signal.

Ga Eul thought Oh Myung Se was truly remarkable—for managing to soften this notoriously prickly president into such patience and kindness.

Dae Woon repeated dozens of times that she must always wear the necklace—though he never revealed who would be receiving the tracker’s signal.

He also gave Ga Eul a stun gun and pepper spray, explaining their usage in meticulous detail.

Exhausted from listening to all the self-defense instructions, Ga Eul cautiously asked if it might be safer for her to simply stay locked in her room. Dae Woon replied that she should still carry all the defense tools—and also absolutely not leave her room.

While Dae Woon was away in India, the time felt to Ga Eul like an unexpected, long-overdue vacation.

Having not rested properly in ages, she indulged in pure idleness during this period—lounging around the house all day, eating delicious meals prepared by her grandmother.

Still, she never missed her early-morning Chinese conversation class. She figured she ought to learn a few foreign languages in preparation for possibly working at Pyeongan Group someday.
