It wasn’t entirely pleasant, but neither was it unpleasant.

That night’s visit was an oddly ambiguous reality for Kwon Gi Ju.

He possessed extraordinary patience for certain things, yet for others, even the slightest provocation made him throw restraint out the window. Song Eun Chae mostly fell into the latter category. Just lying there quietly breathing made his heart throb—but if she openly tempted him, what was he supposed to do?

When Eun Chae stepped out of the bathroom in a bathrobe, Gi Ju covered half his face with one hand. Though shy, she walked in with unwavering confidence, and he’d tried his best to hold steady—but the sight of her skin peeking through the robe’s slight gap left him utterly defenseless.

Eun Chae approached while smoothing cream onto her face. She sat beside him on the edge of the bed and glanced at him sideways. She seemed to be waiting for the right moment, still lacking the courage to actually do anything.

Her thoughts were so transparently adorable that Gi Ju nearly kissed her forehead—but then he remembered how dangerous habits could be.

Fearing he might impulsively kiss her again out of sheer habit, he simply lay back on the bed and closed his eyes—only for her disappointed voice to pierce his eardrums.

“Are you sleeping already?”

When Gi Ju tilted his head to look, Eun Chae—who’d been scratching her neck—lay down beside him. At the rustle of the sheets, he leaned back against the headboard, reclining at an angle.

“I wasn’t going to sleep.”

Hearing his belated reply, Eun Chae lifted her head to look up at him. When she gazed at him so intently, his dark pupils would tremble for an instant, and his lips would descend—but nothing happened this time.

Feeling oddly unsettled—as if something were missing on this supposed trip—Eun Chae sat up. Honestly, she’d expected him to give in just by her wearing only a bathrobe.

“You’re not giving in that easily.”

“What did I even do?”

Gi Ju drawled, his eyes languid. Eun Chae had no idea what to do or how to do it—after all, he was usually the one who took the lead in these situations.
