Eun Chae repeated the two names to herself. The first was unfamiliar, the second familiar.

There was no overlap between them, yet for some reason she felt a connection—and it made her deeply uncomfortable.

“Poor fool. Falling for someone whose real name you don’t even know.”

She couldn’t possibly understand unless she tried. Eun Chae shot back sharply.

“What on earth are you talking about!”

“Thirteen years ago, maybe. That bastard’s older brother was murdered.”

Her mind twisted into a tangled mess of threads. She wanted to deny it, yet one thought led to another, forming undeniable links.

Right. Unless you’re an idiot, you should understand this much at least.

Chairman Song Myung Hwan spoke with a satisfied expression.

“Of course, I didn’t kill him with my own hands.”

Eun Chae’s vision blurred, and her ears grew muffled. His voice from long ago surfaced in her memory.

“He had an older brother.”

The tone of that voice had seemed gentle. Or—was it really gentle? Even her memory felt doubtful now.

“He doesn’t seem like the type to get his own hands dirty—more like a movie villain.”
