Gi Ju opened the door to his officetel and stepped inside. Under the entryway motion-sensor light, he leisurely slipped off his loafers and walked into the living room. Every window was completely blocked by blackout curtains, making it dim even in broad daylight.
As he walked straight toward the dining room, the only light illuminating the darkness—the sensor light—abruptly switched off. Yet his movements remained unhesitant.
He entered the dining room with heavy footsteps, pulled out a bottle of sparkling water from the fridge, twisted off the cap, and brought the bottle to his lips as he left the dining room and headed toward the living room sofa.
Leaning his head back to drink, Gi Ju sat down and immediately slumped lazily into the couch. The glow from a billboard on the opposite building seeped through the living room window, prompting him to furrow one brow.
With his fingers tightening around the now-empty bottle—its contents drained in just three sips—he tilted his head back.
Click, click.
The idle motion of shaking the empty bottle soon stopped.
Gi Ju rose silently from his seat. He went to the dressing room, removed his wristwatch and placed it inside a display case, took off his jacket, undid his tie knot, and unbuttoned his shirt. Then he walked straight into the adjacent bathroom.
Grasping his neck with one hand, he tilted his head in the opposite direction—*crack*—the sound of joints popping echoed. Amused by his own antics, Gi Ju let out a soft, breathy chuckle.
*You’re even obsessing over something this trivial, calling it a memory.*
With that thought, he stepped into the shower stall and turned on the water. As the streaming water soaked his body, he scrubbed at his neck.
Should he call it reckless? Or perhaps brazen?
She had boldly—fearlessly—rubbed her lips against his.
