When The Silver Bell Of Charlotte's Pharmacy Rings (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 41
Tae Mi spat whatever was in his mouth into the tin trash can and glared at her with a huff.
Every time Tae Mi wore that stubborn expression, Charlotte vaguely thought of her father.
The memory kept resurfacing—that her father had adored Tae Mi, the youngest member of the party.
〈Be kind to our Lotti.〉
Tae Mi had been a quiet boy who would smile faintly and blush whenever her father said those words.
But after the entire party was wiped out, and Tae Mi returned alone, carrying fragments of her father’s body through a torrential downpour, his personality changed completely.
He never tried to join another party, nor did he have a fixed place to stay.
He lived as a voluntary loner and wanderer, yet he was always near Charlotte.
Sometimes, Charlotte wondered if Tae Mi had loved her father as deeply as her father had cherished him like a son.
〈Think of her as your younger sister. Understood, Tae Mi?〉
〈Yes, Captain.〉
Tae Mi is still keeping that promise, Charlotte thought—but that didn’t mean she could bring herself to like him.
She didn’t want to be affectionate or kind to him either.
Whenever she thought of him, the image of her father—bloodied, or rather, what remained of him—flashed in her mind, and the sound of rain filled her ears, causing a cold iron door inside Charlotte’s head to slam shut with a chilling clang.
After glaring at Charlotte for a long while, Tae Mi slammed something down on the counter with a sharp sound.

I’m on Tar Mi’s side here. The Duke seems a bit too careless about his relationship with Charlotte. Feelings or no, it’s as if he hasn’t given any thought to the consequences any of his actions will have on her and her life. I’d say any feelings he has are superficial at best.
