When The Silver Bell Of Charlotte's Pharmacy Rings (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 2
The moment she heard those words, Charlotte’s eyes sparkled with a sudden gleam.
But the woman, busy sniffling and grumbling, failed to notice the strange shift in Charlotte’s expression.
“…So you see…”
“If you keep applying this ointment regularly, it’ll get better.”
Charlotte abruptly cut off the woman’s endless complaining and firmly set down the powder and ointment she’d just applied to the woman’s hand.
The woman, who had planned to launch into a long tirade about her mistress—who’d recently become ferociously cruel to the servants for reasons unknown—now wore a dazed look.
Charlotte smiled sweetly as their eyes met.
The woman, just as when she’d first laid eyes on her, stood utterly mesmerized. Charlotte seemed even more beautiful when she smiled.
For a fleeting moment, the shabby apothecary shop felt like a verdant forest.
“Since you’ve suffered such misfortune, I’ll give them to you at a special low price.”
“Oh—really? How much would that be…?”
“Hmm, normally this powdered medicine alone would cost at least 8 tizels (*1 tizel ≈ 10,000 KRW), and the ointment is even pricier—it’s incredibly difficult to make. Even if you gather basketfuls of mushrooms that bloom briefly at dawn and then wither, you’d get barely two spoonfuls after hours of boiling…”
As Charlotte’s explanation grew longer, the woman quietly felt uneasy and started mentally checking how much money she had in her purse.
She knew well that prices at Charlotte’s apothecary varied wildly.
They sold everything—from very cheap cough remedies to mysterious tinctures secretly sought after by nobles who arrived carrying sacks of gold.
But one thing was certain: every remedy sold in this shop was the genuine article—whatever it was.
“Um… so how much would it be…?”
Charlotte glanced briefly at the woman’s anxious face and smiled warmly again.
“I’ll give you both—the powder and the ointment—for 5 tizels.”
“What? That cheaply?”
“Didn’t I just say I’d give you a discount? Stop wearing gloves. Hiding your wound won’t do you any good. Right now, it’s still treatable—barely—but if it worsens further, you might have to lose your hand. Is that alright with you?”
Forgetting even her pain, the woman shook her head fearfully.
Charlotte took out a clean paper bag, placed the fresh ointment and powder inside, and added another reminder.
“Apply it once after dinner and again right before bed. If you have soft linen cloth, just lightly cover it with that. Keep it exposed to fresh air as much as possible. When the skin starts peeling, don’t pull it off—just leave it alone. And absolutely no lye or harsh chemicals for now. Understood?”
“Oh—yes, I understand! But… is this really enough…?”
Charlotte looked down at the banknote extended toward the counter and thought to herself:
‘There’s no way this is enough.’
She took the money and smiled.
“It’ll be fine—just be careful on your way home. If you run out of ointment or powder, come back again. You’ll need to keep applying it until the wound fully heals. I’ll give it to you at the same price next time too.”
“Th-thank you! Really… I don’t even know how to thank you properly…”
“Oh, no—thank you for coming! Please drop by again soon. I’ve got everything—from mint for coughs and tinctures that instantly sober you up, to ointments that loosen stiff muscles after a week of tension, and even sleeping drafts that send you straight to dreamland with just one drop. And do spread the word around, would you?”
“Of course! Absolutely—I will… Thank you so much. Well then…”
The woman pushed open the door. The silver bell above it jingled cheerfully.
“Oh, just a moment.”
The woman, about to leave, turned back with the paper bag tucked against her chest. Curious emerald-green eyes silently fixed on her face.
“You said you work for House of Lireld, right?”
[This is the timeline separator]After confirming that the spread-out herbs were drying nicely and crisp, Charlotte flipped the sign on her door from “Open” to “Out for Errands.”
The jingling sound the bell made whenever the door opened or closed—she both loved and found unnerving.
Locking up and stepping out onto the street, Charlotte carried a small basket hooked over her right arm, her hair tied back, giving her a light and carefree look.
Wearing softly polished leather shoes, she walked lightly through the bustling streets—an appearance striking enough to draw everyone’s attention.
“Charlotte! Where are you off to?”
Yuno, the fruit seller, hailed her in his usual loud voice. Charlotte turned toward him with a bright smile.
“Hello, Mr. Yuno. I’m off to get lunch.”
“I heard the chef at ‘Weightsobla’ made a special menu today—only for lunch! Why not hurry over?”
“Oh dear, really? What a shame—I already made sandwiches. Would you like one?”
Charlotte opened her basket to show him.
At the sight of the dainty sandwiches filled with herbs, vegetables, and peppery salted ham, Yuno’s mouth dropped open slightly.
“I’d love one! But are you sure?”
“Of course! You gave me useful info, so it’s only fair I pay you back. Here you go—enjoy! I’ll come pick up my basket later.”

“Thanks! I was getting pretty hungry anyway. My wife’s been nagging me nonstop to lose some weight.”
By “my wife,” he meant his actual spouse, not his employer.
Leaving him with a cheerful “Enjoy your meal!”, Charlotte strolled down the street feeling even lighter than before.
She figured that when she got her basket back from Yuno, it would likely come with fresh oranges, lemons, or maybe even some peaches.
The district where Charlotte’s shop stood—the capital city Yuril of the Roanoke Kingdom—was vibrant day and night.
Twenty years had passed since the revolutionary government collapsed and the monarchy was restored. Though the change of rulers had brought some chaos, that much time had been sufficient to return people’s lives to normalcy.
“Big Sister Charlotte, hello! Won’t you buy some flowers?”
“I’ll get some on my way back—I’m heading to lunch right now.”
“Charlotte, my mother’s back pain returned—can I get more of that medicine you gave us last time?”
“Come by in two hours! I’ll have it ready for you.”
On this street, Charlotte was a local celebrity and everyone’s favorite young lady.
Of course, there were always a few envious gossips who whispered that she was suspicious—running an apothecary alone, never married, and never seen meeting anyone privately.
But the vast majority genuinely liked her warm and cheerful nature, and Charlotte herself paid no mind to rumors or slander, preferring to stay close to her neighbors.
“Please, spare a coin…”
Just as Charlotte was about to enter the restaurant, a beggar lying in the shadow between buildings reached out his hand toward her.
Charlotte looked at him pityingly for a moment, then pulled out several banknotes from her pocket and pressed them firmly into his palm—six 1-tizel notes in total.
The beggar’s eyes widened in shock at the unexpected generosity, and his fingertips trembled faintly.
“Th-thank you… Thank you, angelic young lady…”
“You’re very welcome.”
Watching the beggar vanish back into the shadows still clutching the money, Charlotte let out a quiet sigh.
‘Weightsobla’ was right ahead, its delicious aroma of cream wafting through the air—but the money she’d just given away was everything she’d brought with her.
She’d also given her sandwiches to Yuno, so her only options now were to return to her shop for more money or simply take a walk and treat herself to a small snack with the few coins she had left.
Just as Charlotte made up her mind to leave, a grating metallic voice cut through the air.
“Well, I’ve seen all kinds of odd sights in my life—but this takes the cake.”
A slightly elongated shadow wavered unsteadily toward Charlotte.
She watched silently as the man limped closer.
His black hair was grown out haphazardly and tied back like a horse’s tail, and his face was dotted with small scars.
Though he grinned lazily, his eyes were surprisingly sharp and intelligent—and his prominent nose gave him the look of a handsome young man.
“What are you doing playing saint all of a sudden?”
Charlotte, walking ahead with an impassive expression, kept her gaze forward.
“That banknote had ghost residue on it—I had to get rid of it quickly. So this worked out nicely.”
“Figures. You rotten little wretch.”
When the man chuckled, Charlotte whipped around to face him. Her jewel-like emerald eyes now looked fierce.
None of her neighbors—who’d only ever seen her speak kindly—could have imagined this side of her, but to him, it was entirely familiar.
Every time Charlotte put on that sweet, so-called “business smile,” he couldn’t help but pretend to gag.
Charlotte abruptly turned her head away again.
“The man just now is dull-witted, so it’s fine. He has no intuition at all—too busy scrambling to earn just enough for one meal a day.”
Striding briskly toward the square, Charlotte suddenly spun around and headed back the way she’d come, as if struck by a thought.
The man, nearly thrown off balance by her sharp turn, grumbled lightly.
“Hey, what’s the rush? I almost fell over.”
“If you’ve got something to say, say it quickly and leave.”
“Isn’t this lunchtime? You came out to eat too, didn’t you? The least you could do is invite me to join you.”
Charlotte snorted in disbelief.
“Why on earth would I? Besides, didn’t you see? That was my entire lunch money—now I’m down to just a few coins.”
“Then just buy something that fits your few coins.”
The man turned around. Charlotte instinctively followed his gaze and frowned.
A small street vendor was selling freshly baked donuts.
“You can afford that with the loose change in your pocket, right?”
“You’re impossible, honestly.”
Nevertheless, Charlotte ended up buying donuts for both of them.

They sat side by side on a nearby bench, each holding a paper bag with two warm donuts.
The man finally stretched out his legs as if truly alive again—but his right leg wouldn’t fully extend.
Charlotte watched quietly as he tapped his crooked knee, bent outward unnaturally, then took a bite of her greasy donut.
“Well? Spit it out already.”
“You’re always in such a hurry.”
“Tae Mi, keep dragging this out and one day I’ll feed you a laxative so strong you’ll pass out from dehydration.”
Even faced with Charlotte’s grim threat, the man—Tae Mi—only chuckled. With his cheeks bulging from a huge bite of donut, he spoke.
“There’s this wealthy man named Grimmel. Used to be a nobody boatman. Couldn’t have kids for ages, then finally had a single daughter in his forties. And guess what? Right after she was born, the man struck it rich. He saved up penny by penny, invested in something—turned out to be pure gold! Well, not literal gold mines, but you get the idea.”
“Just get to the point.”
Tae Mi popped another bite of donut into his mouth. The entire large donut vanished in just two bites.
“Anyway, he’s had all sorts of little strokes of luck since then, so he’s convinced it’s thanks to his late-born daughter and practically worships her. But a few days ago, she started complaining of stomach pain—and now she’s bedridden, looking half-dead.”

Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife
I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro
When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.
After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.
Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.
Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.
At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.
Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.
The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.
He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.
[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]

I’m on Tar Mi’s side here. The Duke seems a bit too careless about his relationship with Charlotte. Feelings or no, it’s as if he hasn’t given any thought to the consequences any of his actions will have on her and her life. I’d say any feelings he has are superficial at best.

To be honest, Tae Mi is my favorite character in this novel.
Wow that’s grotesque. I didn’t think this novel was going to be so gorey
