Seon Woo emerged from the bathroom, slipping his arms into his shirt. The hastily thrown-on shirt, still clinging to his damp body where moisture hadn’t fully dried, showed patches of wetness here and there.

That couldn’t possibly be the case.

Emerging from the bathroom and looking at the empty room, he couldn’t help but laugh—at himself, absurdly struggling to squeeze into his shirt inside the bathroom just in case Eun Jae might be waiting in the room.

Recalling her wide-eyed, frightened expression as she looked up at him, Seon Woo wavered between resolving to stop teasing her and finding her expression unbearably cute, leaving him confused by his own constantly shifting ambivalence.

“Honestly, what pointless things I worry about.”

Smirking to himself, Seon Woo buttoned his shirt one button at a time and stepped into the living room.

As soon as Seon Woo entered the living room, Eun Jae, who had been sitting on the sofa, shot up as if she’d been waiting for him.

Out of habit, she nearly called him “Ajusshi,” but quickly swallowed the rest of the sentence upon catching his suddenly frosty expression.

“I have something to ask you… Did I do part-time work? If so, when will I get paid?”

Her voice sounded subdued, almost embarrassed to even refer to it as “part-time work.” At the same moment her question landed, Seon Woo’s fingers paused mid-buttoning, and a puzzled gaze turned toward her.

“I thought I told you it’s an unlimited card. Is it insufficient?”

“Oh…”

Recalling the black card she’d returned, thinking she couldn’t use it, only to have it given back to her as compensation for household chores, Eun Jae let out a small sigh.

She now understood—the insistence that she clean an already spotless house without lifting a finger, and even the division of chores assigned to her—had all been thoughtful gestures meant to give her a sense of justification for accepting the card, sparing her unnecessary guilt.

“Still, using that feels…”
