When I Reach You (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 24

Like last time, Eun Jae—uncomfortable with the barrage of greetings she received while accompanied by a man—asked to be dropped off early at the hospital entrance as it drew near.

“Please stop here for me.”

Without asking why, Seon Woo readily let Eun Jae out. She watched his car gradually shrink in the distance before stepping into the hospital entrance.

Waiting for the elevator in front of the lobby, Eun Jae glanced down at her burning heels.

Though the stylist she’d visited today had again urged her to try them on, she’d stubbornly refused, insisting she was fine—only to suffer the consequences. Despite being the same size, the shoes ran large, and in that brief time, her heels had rubbed raw and stung sharply.

Her steps toward Mi Ran’s ward felt unbearably heavy; she couldn’t seem to move at any real pace. Her mind had gone blank after being suddenly confronted with something she’d never even considered before.

Could she really tell her mother a story she’d completely fabricated, without even a flicker of change in her expression? Would she get away with it?

“Were you planning not to tell your mother?”

Yes, that’s exactly what I intended! Could you, in my place, possibly say it? Things like this should’ve been mentioned in advance.

“Honestly, everyone just does whatever they please.”

Yet she had no real power to voice her own opinion either.

Muttering complaints for a long while outside Mi Ran’s hospital room, Eun Jae finally took a deep breath and exhaled decisively.

Just as she slid her hand onto the doorknob, a large hand gently traveled up her shoulder and rested there softly.

Startled, Eun Jae turned back—and there stood Seon Woo, having already parked and come upstairs, smiling faintly down at her.

‘You got here fast.’
