To You Whom I Don’t Love That Much (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 087
87.
It was an unnamed low-ranking soldier who pulled him out of his thoughts. When Cardier’s gaze landed on him, a stiff, sharp salute was returned.
“What is it?”
“The Admiral is looking for you.”
Cardier took one final deep drag from his cigar, then crushed it out. He crumpled the remaining cigar and ash into a portable ashtray.
“Let’s go.”
The soldier, who had been dumbfounded at how impossibly picturesque the man looked even to another man, snapped back to his senses upon hearing the brief command.
“Yes, sir.”
Six schooners had set sail for this operation. Though it was unlike the usual practice of not putting all eggs in one basket, the Admiral’s schooner and the Vice Admiral’s were supposed to maintain a distance of five tars (nautical miles) apart. Taking a boat from the stern gallery would have been faster to cross. Yet the young soldier led not toward the stern gallery, but toward the captain’s cabin.
“The boat—”
“Oh. The Admiral has already boarded.”
Already boarded? Cardier tilted his head slightly. Each schooner fell under its own commander’s jurisdiction, and the Admiral was not someone who casually left his assigned vessel.
It had only been half a day since they’d completed their final supply run and concluded the officers’ meeting. There couldn’t possibly have been any urgent developments in that time. Yet an inexplicable unease rippled at the soles of his feet. Cardier pushed past the young soldier and half-ran to stand before the door of the captain’s cabin.
“I’ll be entering.”
“Go ahead.”

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
