To You Who Found Me (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 9
Hye Yoon bit down hard on the soft flesh inside her cheek and turned her eyes away. The heat rising from her chest made it impossible to keep looking at Ji Ho any longer.
“Did you get home okay that day?”
“…….”
Ji Ho kept his eyes on the script as he spoke. This time, it was a question that clearly required an answer—but there was no response from beside him, not even a sound. After waiting a little longer, he turned his head, using it as an excuse to take a look at her face too.
‘She’s doing it again. Is she like a baby pufferfish?’
Just like earlier, Hye Yoon had puffed up her cheeks with air, making them round and full. It somehow looked as though she was inflating herself to protect herself. Though her head was lowered toward the script, she hadn’t even opened the cover—making it seem as if her mind was somewhere else entirely.
He quietly reached for her script. Only then did she glance his way, cautiously. Her puffed-up cheeks had turned a delicate shade of pink.
She took such a defensive stance, yet looked so utterly adorable—it hardly seemed like a threat at all.
“Aren’t you going to answer me?”
He flipped open the cover of the script and handed it back to her—accompanied, of course, by a gentle warmth.
“……I got home okay.”
Hye Yoon’s lips softly whispered as the air quietly escaped.
“I see.”
Ji Ho grinned and returned to his own script. This was a workplace, after all—not the place to get greedy for more.
The script reading had gone smoothly without any major issues. But sometimes, stillness unsettled the heart more than noise ever could—and that was exactly how Hye Yoon felt right now.
“Writer Jang, could we just go over that part once more? Scene 13 from the beginning.”
“Sure.”
Min Woo, who had been silently observing for the past hour, suddenly called out to Hye Yoon. And it was for a line from long ago—the very first exchange she’d had. The scene where Hee Soo first speaks to Jong Soo on the day she arrives at his house.
“Um… if you’re uncomfortable, should I tell my uncle? I can sleep in the living room.”
“Yeah, right from that part. Are you planning to keep that same tone for your acting?”
Min Woo’s fingers gripped his own chin.
“Is Hee Soo really that cautious and observant, like you’re playing her now?”
“Oh… did I interpret it wrong?”
“No, I’m asking because I’m genuinely curious. I don’t think so myself—but I wanted to know if Writer Jang had a different interpretation.”
His tone wasn’t forceful, but it carried a weighty sense of genuine inquiry. The playful glint had vanished from Min Woo’s eyes. There must have been a reason he’d consistently called her “writer” throughout the script reading—perhaps he was subtly asking her to live up to that title.
Caught off guard by Min Woo’s uncharacteristic seriousness, Hye Yoon found it hard to speak. Her unusually moist eyes made her seem on the verge of tears.
“Don’t be so scared. I was just asking simply.”
“I’m not scared, senior. Please keep pointing out anything I get wrong.”
At those words, Min Woo’s expression softened. His hand, which had been holding his chin, naturally dropped and gave a few light claps.
“Then let’s take a ten-minute break.”
As Min Woo’s voice signaled the break, the previously quiet conference room briefly stirred to life. For just a moment, Min Woo watched the two of them once more.
“What are you staring at so intently? Seriously? No matter how you look at it, that two-shot’s just too perfect, isn’t it?”
The Assistant Director, already standing beside him, pressed down on his shoulder. Both the questioner and the one being questioned wore identical expressions.
“……Yeah.”
“Heh heh. I feel the same way—I can’t even argue against it.”
Min Woo stood up, smiling contentedly. The chemistry between the two actors he’d watched for an hour had exceeded his imagination.
“To be honest, I was a little worried after casting Ji Ho. He’s supposed to be a poor high schooler hopelessly in love with his cousin—but is it really believable for someone that handsome to play the part?”
“Right? He’s… just a bit too much, isn’t he?”
“But then when Hye Yoon sits next to him… wait, this actually looks good together! They really suit each other! If Jong Soo really looked like that, I could totally see him falling for Hee Soo.”
“Get a hold of yourself. Your ego’s shooting straight up to the sky.”
As Min Woo and the Assistant Director left the conference room, their steps were as light as if carried by the wind.
“What are we gonna do? It’s gonna be too big a hit.”
“You’re worrying about the most ridiculous things.”
It was the mid-break of a script reading that had been going on for about an hour—and already the director and assistant director were making bets on viewership ratings. Fantasies like “What if takes the number one spot on Friday nights at 10?” thrilled them beyond measure.
Of course, Hye Yoon, unaware of the production team’s thoughts, stayed completely still in her chair, eyes fixed once again on the script. The weight of her thoughts blurred the words before her.
‘Just who exactly is Hee Soo?’
Her problem wasn’t the barrier of acting—it was her own lack of self-trust. She’d portrayed Hee Soo following her instincts, yet a gnawing anxiety grew that it might not be the right approach.
“She definitely would’ve been cautious and observant.”
“Huh?”
Startled by the quiet voice slipping in, Hye Yoon lifted her head sharply. Looking around, she realized Ji Ho and she were the only ones left in the conference room. His deep, resonant voice seemed to emanate not from his mouth, but from deep within his chest.

Or perhaps it wasn’t his voice she was hearing—but his heart.
“I mean Hee Soo. She probably always acted tough in front of adults, but she grew up reading people’s moods ever since she can remember.”
“Oh…”
“She must’ve shown it everywhere.”
Ji Ho placed his strong, masculine arms neatly over his closed script and leaned forward slightly to look at Hye Yoon from a little closer. Under the bright fluorescent lights, the shadow cast by his broad shoulders completely enveloped her small frame.
“Just do it the way you want. Don’t overthink it.”
Where Min Woo had asked her a question, Ji Ho offered her certainty.
“No one knows Hee Soo better than you, Writer. If you feel like she’d be cautious, then be cautious. If you think she might be confident, then act confidently. Just follow what feels right in the moment.”
“But wouldn’t that be a bit off? If it keeps changing, the character might lose credibility…”
Hye Yoon focused her gaze into Ji Ho’s deep eyes—eyes that held the vast, quiet stillness of the universe. Every time she’d looked into those eyes before, even the silliest questions had received a sincere answer. She’d never understood why—but now, she thought she finally did.
“Don’t worry. I’ll make sure it’s convincing.”
She must have wanted to believe him—so badly that everything about him felt trustworthy.
His words rang so clearly with sincerity that warmth immediately rushed to her eyes. She wanted to keep looking at him, yet didn’t want him to notice how earnestly she felt. Hye Yoon quickly scrunched up her nose a couple of times.
Ji Ho smiled fondly at her reaction and straightened his posture. Though her glistening eyes were beautiful, he never wanted to see them filled with tears—so he added a playful note to his words.
“What’s the point of having an actor boyfriend if you’re not going to use him somehow?”
“Huh?”
Just as expected—her eyes instantly widened, as if she’d never been on the verge of tears just moments before.
“We really need to talk about this in more detail.”
“……Yeah.”
Hye Yoon agreed completely. In the heat of the moment, she’d simply admitted to the dating rumors without thinking—nothing else had been discussed or aligned between them. In fact, today was their first meeting since the rumors broke.
She nodded absently, then refocused on Ji Ho—but her eyes instantly snapped away as she caught sight, through his folded arms, of the firm chest visible beneath his unbuttoned shirt.
“Do you have plans after we finish today?”
His question slipped in the moment Hye Yoon abruptly averted her gaze. At the same time, a rustling sound pushed into their shared space.
“Um… we’re resuming the reading now. If you two are done talking, can we come back in?”
“Ahh, hurry in already, everyone!”
Min Woo and the Assistant Director ushered the cast into the conference room in a cheerful, teasing rush. Seeing Hye Yoon so flustered and wary only seemed to encourage them further.
Ji Ho swept his hair back from his forehead in one smooth motion. He felt a slight pang of disappointment that the words he’d wanted to ask her all day had slipped away, scattered and lost.
“That’s it for today! I’ll see you all in two weeks for our first shoot!”
“Great job, everyone.”
Everyone clapped to cheer each other on. Hye Yoon bowed deeply to each cast member one by one. Just as an illustrator brought vibrancy to a fairy tale, a drama unfolded in yet another world.
A story that truly lived and breathed—unfolding right here in reality, where both feet touched the ground. The thought alone made her tremble with anticipation: how would she possibly handle the overwhelming emotion once filming actually began?
“Oh, by the way—Ji Ho and Hye Yoon, could you stop by the costume department this week? Take a look at your school uniform designs, and while you’re there, get your measurements taken and fitted. If it’s too much trouble, you can just call instead.”
“I’ll go. I’m free this Friday.”
“Then I’ll send you the address by message.”
“Yes. Thank you, senior.”
Min Woo hurried out of the conference room, called away by a flurry of incoming calls.
Normally, they’d just use the pre-existing school uniforms kept in-house at the broadcast station—but somehow, even the uniforms had secured sponsorship. Hye Yoon pouted slightly as she watched Ji Ho stand from the seat beside her.
“What’s got you all grumpy again?”
Even though Ji Ho wasn’t looking down at her, he seemed to see every bit of Hye Yoon’s expression and smiled. Hye Yoon stood up too, tilting her head curiously.
“It’s just… I feel like I’m working with someone absolutely incredible.”
“I see.”
She followed Ji Ho, who was still nodding as if amused, toward the conference room door. As it opened, four or five female staff members from the station let out soft, admiring sighs at the sight of Ji Ho—caught between the urge to endure silently and the thrill of adoration. That exact feeling washed over Hye Yoon too.
“Hello, Writer.”
“Oh, Manager.”
Bong Gi, who had been waiting ahead of them, guided the two toward the elevators. Truthfully, situations like this were routine for both Ji Ho and Bong Gi.
The elevator they arrived at was empty.
“Writer, once filming starts, you’ll need your own personal staff. We’d like to provide support.”
Hye Yoon knew well that Bong Gi was making this offer out of both gratitude and apology. So she lifted her head with an even brighter smile.
“It’s okay. I have friends who’ll help me out. I truly appreciate the thought, though.”
“Hmm… then please let us know anytime you need anything.”

As Hye Yoon nodded with a smile, a strand of her hair brushed against Ji Ho’s arm before falling back into place. Whether it was the tickle of her hair on his arm or in his chest, Ji Ho felt his heart settle, and he smiled softly.
Ding
The elevator reached the basement level. Hye Yoon scanned the underground parking lot—just as unfamiliar to her now as it had been three hours ago, like some strange new planet. Just as Ji Ho was about to speak to her, her phone lit up with a new message.
[Look at the far left over there. You dummy. (4:46 PM)]“The left…”
As Hye Yoon murmured to herself and turned her head, both Ji Ho and Bong Gi followed her gaze.
Far off in the distance, an emergency light flashed a signal toward them—and beside the driver’s seat of a car, a man stood watching Hye Yoon. Ji Ho looked at him. Woo Jun didn’t look away.
A sharp edge entered Ji Ho’s gaze.
