Even after Do Hyuk’s film crew had left, the drinking session continued to buzz with lively noise. The heat had only just passed its midpoint, but Hye Yoon enjoyed the fun just up to that point and headed back to her accommodation—the drowsiness weighing down her blinking eyes had become utterly overwhelming.

Back at her room, she barely managed to wash up before taking slow steps toward her bed. The fatigue built up since early dawn seemed to be making its final, exhausted struggle. Those few steps felt incredibly sluggish and heavy.

[Still at the dinner gathering? I hope you didn’t drink. (9:50 PM)]

The message and one missed call had both come from Ji Ho. The corners of her heavy eyes faintly curved upward. It felt genuinely good to see sincerity from someone who was always used to burying their emotions deep underground.

He’s worried, that’s all.

Then, she naturally recalled Do Hyuk’s final words. Though they’d both witnessed the same person’s sincerity, it seemed Ji Ho’s sincerity must have looked very different from her own.

“Please tell Senior Ji Ho… I truly apologize for what happened that day. If I say it like this, he’ll understand.”

“I will.”

“And… I’ll hold you to your promise—you said you’d definitely watch my film.”

“Well, since you trust me, I’ll have to watch it even more carefully.”

They parted with light smiles, as if certain they’d meet again. Do Hyuk thought this might truly be goodbye, while Hye Yoon sincerely wished him well.

“Wow, I thought waves were crashing.”

When she cracked the window open, the sound of rain poured in through the gap. Having not seen the ocean since arriving in Busan days ago, she almost felt as if the sea lay just beyond her window.

Hye Yoon returned to her bed and picked up the remote. She wanted to turn off the TV and fully savor the ocean-like sounds the rain was crafting for her.
