To You Who Found Me (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 16
A few seconds passed that felt like eternity. At the end of it, Ji Ho was the one who looked away first. Hye Yoon had unknowingly shattered his self-control—just with her gentle gaze.
Those clear, pure chestnut eyes. If he knew she was avoiding his gaze to hide her thoughts, would he still look at her with eyes like this now? For some reason, Ji Ho wasn’t sure.
“And besides, it’s obvious, isn’t it? Do I really need to say it out loud?”
“What… what is?”
Hye Yoon, too, clutched her trembling heart tightly and met his gaze—but even a single short sentence wouldn’t come out smoothly. Not knowing what he truly felt, she almost grew jealous of how calmly he smiled again.
“Of course I liked you at first sight.”
His large hand, which had been holding her shoulder, slowly drifted away. But the slight shiver she felt at the loss of his warmth lasted only a moment.
“Anyone would think you’re small and cute.”
At some point, Ji Ho’s hand had gently stroked the back of Hye Yoon’s head. The soft, soothing touch felt as though it were wiping away all the rational thoughts in her mind.
“I think I already told you this before… but I guess you don’t remember any of it.”
His stroking hand silently disappeared into his pants pocket, yet his eyes remained fixed on her.
Hye Yoon wanted to keep looking at him but lowered her head instead. She could vividly feel her cheeks turning red, and by now she knew all too well that Ji Ho was quite skilled at reading people’s thoughts.
She feared he’d read her final memory from that evening.
‘Since the very first time we met… you thought I was cute?’
‘Yes.’
Ji Ho noticed the small hand gripping the hem of her school skirt beneath her lowered head. The emotions radiating from this petite girl were so overwhelming and palpable that he couldn’t possibly ignore them. The corners of his mouth softened into a gentle smile.
“Hmm… or maybe you do remember after all?”
When he playfully tilted his head to get a better look at her, Hye Yoon quickly nodded twice. Yes, she remembered—and yes, she was embarrassed. Everything was true, so please just stop.
Happiness colored Ji Ho’s handsome face.
“I see… Just remember this always. Because I mean it.”
“…….”
“Since you remembered back then, you should do the same thing properly now, right? Give me your answer.”
“……Yes. So now… please stop. My face is so red I can’t even lift my head.”
“Heh heh. Alright, that’s enough for now.”
He barely managed to keep his hand—tucked away in his pocket—from reaching out again to pat her round head. Lately, the things he struggled to hold back had started with the tiniest, most trivial impulses.
“Um… Excuse me, can we go in now? Lunch break’s over.”
At the hesitant voice from afar, Ji Ho immediately shifted his attention. Several staff members had already come in and seemed to have been watching them.
“Oh, sure.”
Though caught in an awkward situation, Ji Ho replied calmly and naturally. Hye Yoon glanced up at him discreetly. His demeanor and eyes toward the staff were courteous—but somehow unfamiliar.
This must be the “wall” Min Woo had mentioned—she could see it clearly in how Ji Ho interacted with others. Kind, but never crossing a line. And since she’d never seen this side of him before, it felt strange.
“The writer needs to meet a friend before heading into the shoot.”
“……Your face is way too red.”
When he redirected all his attention from the approaching staff straight back to Hye Yoon, she quickly ducked her head again. From Ji Ho’s perspective, since everyone already knew they were a couple, there was no need to hide where his eyes lingered.
Of course, that included where his heart wandered too.
“A little. I’m fine, but others might get the wrong idea.”
“Wrong idea?”
“Yeah. I’m worried they might think we were just having a normal conversation.”
If only she could mimic even half of that carefree ease with which he smiled and teased. Hye Yoon felt dizzy—caught between embarrassment and envy—and shot Ji Ho a sharp, resentful glare.
“Heh heh. I get it, so go quickly to the waiting room and come back. Seriously, that’s enough for now.”
“One day… I’ll definitely get my revenge.”
With her lips pouting outward, Hye Yoon’s eyes stayed fixed on Ji Ho even as she took a few steps away. His own smile couldn’t be suppressed—the warmth and prickling sensation of her gaze was too much.
“They say PD Kim is involved with a new announcer. Not officially dating yet, but it seems like they’ll start soon.”
“Wow, where did you hear that?”
“Where else? On set, obviously. You’ve been working while I’ve been having way too much fun—I almost feel bad about it.”
In the car on the way home after filming wrapped up. Min Joo seemed quite satisfied with work again today. Though Hye Yoon still felt slightly guilty for always leaving before Ji Ho, she momentarily forgot about it.
“You’re close with PD Kim, right? Didn’t you sense anything like that?”
“Well… I just noticed he’s been in a really good mood lately.”
“Right? Is there anything else in this world that makes people as happy as love?”
Hye Yoon nodded in agreement. Evening had come with a dark sky and soft music from the radio, relaxing her body. The fatigue she’d pushed aside now pressed heavily on her eyelids.
“Hye Yoon, I’m just mentioning this in case…”

“Hmm…?”
Min Joo quickly glanced at Hye Yoon, who sat beside her looking relaxed. Her drowsy reply sounded tired.
“…Don’t go mistaking Ahn Ji Ho’s acting for anything real.”
“What?!”
Hye Yoon jerked upright as if electrically shocked, staring wide-eyed at Min Joo. All sleepiness vanished instantly.
“No, the moment he acts as Ahn Ji Ho, it already feels like he likes you—oh, not you, I mean Hee Soo.”
Worried she’d shown too much surprise, Hye Yoon glanced self-consciously—but luckily, Min Joo was focused on driving.
“I’m saying this because I don’t want you mixing up acting and reality and ending up heartbroken. Especially since he’s basically always acting, even off-camera.”
“Aww, it’s not like that…”
She denied it, but inside, Hye Yoon winced. She looked at her own reflection in the window and pretended to adjust her hair—actually covering her forehead. A silly thought from a few days ago flashed back: maybe her thoughts were transparent, visible right through her skull.
Because Min Joo had hit the nail right on the head.
“Well, if not, that’s great. But Ahn Ji Ho’s ex-girlfriends were Chae Jae Hee and Jeon Ji Na. Get a sense of his type yet?”
“Oh…”
“He only ever dates people exactly like himself—absolute beauties.”
Before Min Joo even finished speaking, Hye Yoon let her hand drop limply. A quiet sigh—full of indescribable emotion—slipped from her lips.
Chae Jae Hee and Jeon Ji Na were Korea’s top actresses, each earning tens of billions of won annually from ads alone. And Jeon Ji Na, a former model, was precisely the tall, curvy actress Hye Yoon had always envied.
Her hand, now resting dejectedly on her lap, seemed to mirror her owner’s sour mood. She dug her nails into her motionless thigh with quiet persistence.
“Who even says these things? It’s not like anyone knows for sure…”
“Who? I overheard the female staff chatting about it today. Apparently, everyone knows about Chae Jae Hee—she used to come to the set every day while Ahn Ji Ho was filming a movie and wait for him… That’s how the rumors started.”
Hye Yoon felt confused—not because she didn’t understand her emotions, but precisely because she did.
“And as for Jeon Ji Na… Wait, is it even okay for me to just blurt this out? Even if it’s not serious, he’s your friend’s boyfriend, so it feels weird.”
“Yeah. Go ahead.”
Afraid her voice might betray her feelings, Hye Yoon raised her tone slightly. Min Joo’s response flowed smoothly.
“Right. They also starred together in a drama. Some staff even saw them kiss in front of Ben.”
“…….”
Even the short phrase “I see” couldn’t escape her lips—she’d bitten down too hard. Hye Yoon stared blankly at the side mirror. Reflected back at her was a girl with a face plastered in ugly, sulky resentment.
This emotion was too clear to ignore. It was unmistakably jealousy—laced with disappointment.
“That drama was popular, but it caused a huge scandal. I think it even made the news because of Jeon Ji Na’s brother… You remember, right?”
“…….”
“Hye Yoon?”
“…….”
“Jang Hye Yoon.”
“…Huh? Sorry. I was lost in thought. What did you say?”
When she mentally erased the giant word “jealousy” written across her heart, she felt utterly empty. She was so clearly envious of Ji Ho’s real ex-girlfriends. She turned her drooping face toward Min Joo.
“Oh no, our Hye Yoon’s in big trouble. I suspected it, but… seriously?”
“Min Joo… does my face look really ugly right now? All bumpy and scowling?”
“Heh heh. You know it, huh?”
Min Joo glanced sideways at Hye Yoon, who’d so adorably confessed her true feelings. Even another woman had to admit—Hye Yoon was cute. Especially even now, when she let her petty feelings spill out.
“Still, Min Joo… If a guy tells a girl she’s cute… doesn’t that mean he has a little bit of feelings for her?”
That was especially true when cuteness showed up like this—when her words were so transparent, when she desperately wanted to hide her feelings but couldn’t bring herself to lie.
The car slowed and stopped at a red light. Immediately, Min Joo—her eyes and mouth brimming with laughter—turned and looked straight at Hye Yoon.
“What? Did Ahn Ji Ho call Jang Hye Yoon cute?”
“…….”
“Where did you learn to test someone like that?”
Hye Yoon, lips jutted out, blinked helplessly with nothing to say. Min Joo struggled to hold back her laughter.
Of course—lying just didn’t suit Jang Hye Yoon at all.
“Hye Yoon, you’re cute to me too. So don’t read too much into it.”
“…But it’s not that.”
“It is! You’ve heard ‘you’re cute’ your whole life until you’re sick of it. I know. You’re just feeling different because it’s Ahn Ji Ho saying it. Got it?”
When Hye Yoon nodded, Min Joo turned back to the road and pressed the accelerator. Both of them knew very well—believing those words meant nothing wouldn’t be easy.

Because as Min Joo said, when it came to Ji Ho, everything became difficult.
“Tomorrow’s the last shoot of the week, right?”
“Yeah… What are you doing for two days, Min Joo?”
“I’ll laze around at home for one day. How about you?”
“I’ll doodle in a new book a bit, then meet Woo Jun briefly before resting.”
Once common interests came up, their conversation flowed effortlessly. After tomorrow’s shoot, they’d get two days off. Hye Yoon quietly hoped that during those two days—not just for herself, but especially for Ji Ho, who looked exhausted—he’d get some proper rest.
Her genuine feelings had just overcome jealousy, past lovers, and illusions.
At least for now, she could still do that.

The woman snatched his phone and hung up. Looking at his phone wallpaper, she awkwardly changed the subject: “An ancient painting, eh? It looks pretty good, it’s just that the person in the painting looks a bit like me.”
