Not the Ra Jin who existed only in his imagination or memories, but the real, breathing Ra Jin standing right beside him.

He couldn’t take his eyes off the bathroom she’d entered—not even to blink.

He feared that if he missed even a fleeting moment, she might vanish somewhere again.

It would be fine if Ra Jin pushed him away. Anything was better than those days when he couldn’t see her, when not knowing her whereabouts had scorched his heart to ash.

Swish. Ra Jin slid open the door and stepped out. Seeing Jae Heon still standing before the bed, she flinched and instinctively wrapped her arms around her stomach.

“…I was just worried I might fall.”

Her voice, added like an excuse—as if she’d been caught doing something wrong—was uncharacteristically quiet.

“It’s okay.”

Ra Jin muttered briefly, deliberately avoiding his gaze as she left the bedroom. Jae Heon followed close behind like a shadow.

The housekeeper, having quickly composed herself, greeted them normally as they entered the dining room, acting as though nothing unusual had happened.

“Please have a seat. You must be hungry.”

Ra Jin reached for a chair, but Jae Heon was faster.

“Sit.”

“…Thank you.”
