Alejandro gazed at Nerea for a brief moment before raising his hand to untie her hair ribbon.

Her red hair billowed luxuriantly in the wind. Alejandro gently smoothed the tips of her hair.

Just a few months ago, this lustrous hair—brushed every night by Alejandro himself—was now damaged at the ends in several places.

Nerea gave a slight smile as if it were nothing. During war, hair meant nothing. She had considered cutting it just to ease the hassle, but each time she remembered Alejandro’s face and couldn’t bring herself to do it.

Yet to Alejandro, everything about Nerea mattered greatly. For an instant, his eyes narrowed, and his pitch-black pupils shimmered with tender temptation.

Alejandro pressed a kiss to the tip of Nerea’s hair, his sharp, piercing gaze never leaving her.

“I’ll have the bathtub filled with water right away. And I’ll brush your hair for you again. After all, it’s been so long since we’ve seen each other.”

“That’s exactly it.”

Pleased by his sweet voice, Nerea smiled lazily.

“It really has been so long since I came back. Alejandro Rosa, you greedy man. You’ve already had me all to yourself, haven’t you? Besides, Baron Zenax and the Baroness are waiting for me over there right now.”

Nerea glanced subtly toward the garden. Because of the strict security around the western tower, Baron Zenax and the Baroness couldn’t approach any closer and were now impatiently pacing in place, waiting for her.

Alejandro pouted his lips. His sudden shift—from a man skilled in temptation just moments ago to a petulant child—was endearing.

Worried he might notice her true feelings and grow even more smug, Nerea pretended not to notice. Alejandro let out a short breath and smiled gently.

“How about just exchanging greetings, then resting with me?”

Nerea pretended ignorance and counted on her fingers as if he’d made a major concession.
