Closing her eyes briefly to endure the anguish, Laila continued.
“In Wells’ memories… almost nothing remained except Yerka herself. There was no figure in his life as vivid and intense as her. He loved her, worshipped her, and, in the end, feared her dreadfully. Even as his entire body twisted in torment, he couldn’t understand why he couldn’t bring himself to hate her….”
Muuge clicked her tongue as if annoyed.
