But we were always careful with contraception, throughout our entire honeymoon.

Except for one single day.

It was the day we climbed the hill to see the great waterfall in the south.

I spotted another couple who had come to see the waterfall besides us. They looked about our age or slightly older, and between them stood a cute little boy and girl who clearly resembled both parents.

“She’s climbing so well for such a young child, isn’t she? Right, Yurick?”

I said, looking at the girl ahead of me.

Despite her young age, the girl climbed the hill bravely on her own. Not once did she complain about being tired, for the sake of her mother who was carrying her younger brother.

“You’re really just like her.”

“Huh…? That child?”

Yurick nodded.

“The way she does things all by herself, so determinedly.”

“Really?”

“…No. Now that I look again, she’s not like you at all. She’s not our daughter. She doesn’t resemble you—or me, either.”
