To Become Family with the Male Lead (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 49
A faint scent of perfume wafted from Isabelle. When she entered the room and sat down at the table, the subtle fragrance suddenly grew much stronger.
I sat with my legs together and my back straight. I waited for Isabelle to speak first, but she only stared at the floor beneath the table, as if trying to make me anxious.
Instead of speaking, the silent Isabelle rose to her feet.
“……?”
Should I stand up and follow her, or stay seated?
After some hesitation, I simply kept my eyes on Isabelle. She didn’t go far—only to the drawer beside the bed—and opened the bottom compartment. Reaching deep inside, she struggled to pull out a large object.
‘What is that?’
It turned out to be a large, wide wooden chessboard. She took out the pieces from her bag as well and sat back down at the table. The chessboard looked old—its corners worn smooth and its colors faded and dull.
Isabelle brushed away the dust that had settled on the board—not the dust on her hands. A thick cloud of dust swirled up onto the table.
“Why the chessboard…?”
“Is Roger’s claim true? That you’ve been learning chess from Duke Fenton and Baron Kito?”
Isabelle had clearly heard everything Roger said. Though this wasn’t entirely unexpected, so she wasn’t shocked, she still couldn’t find a proper reply.
I couldn’t even tell whether telling the truth or lying would be more advantageous for me.
The silence that arose while I pondered seemed to speak for me, prompting Isabelle to finally open her lips.
“Take it. From the look of it, your current chessboard must be a cheap trinket bought at the market.”

The demon lord’s eyes were red with fury:
“This is all your doing! Today, I won’t rest until I kill you!”
Yu Wu rubbed her temples. Putting aside the taboo against bloodshed during pregnancy, wasn’t it this very man who willingly walked into her trap that day?!
Warnings:

They always think they are right and that their choices for their children are the right ones, but just because you are an adult and a father to your children doesn’t mean that your choices for them are always correct.
Miioo
Isabel truly didn’t deserve what happened to her. Parents are often the reason for ruining their children’s lives; they don’t leave them the choice to make their own decisions about their lives and what suits them.
Miioo
You may not realize it, but by doing this you are destroying their dreams and their personalities, and this will be reflected in how they raise their children in the future.
