As soon as I entered the dining room, my eyes fell upon a table so laden with food it seemed the legs might collapse.

There was everything: a whole roast lightly sprinkled with spices as the main dish, white bread to accompany it, oyster dishes, and a stew made from crushed grains.

I’d enjoyed a lavish meal last time at the Bacchus estate, and today I was receiving another generous hospitality.

I’d now experienced such a grand feast—something that might happen only once a year—twice. Though pleased, I also felt somewhat burdened by their kindness.

As I hesitated, searching for a place to sit, I spotted the Duke already seated and holding his place.

Unlike earlier, his expression was calm as usual. Yet he remained silent and didn’t spare me even a glance.

I chewed my lip, wondering how to address the Duke, and ended up standing there awkwardly.

“Lise, sit here.”

Yurick pointed to the seat beside him. I closed my lips and looked at Yurick, who was pulling out a chair for me.

Among so many seats, the most comfortable one would obviously be next to Yurick. Not wanting to seem like I was watching for cues, I quickly moved to take the seat.

“…Can’t you sit next to me instead?”

Yune tugged at the hem of my dress.

She pointed to her own seat directly across from Yurick. Apparently, Yurick and Yune always had assigned seats, and she wasn’t considering placing me between them—she simply demanded the seat beside her.

“Yune.”

“Just this once, couldn’t you give in, Brother?”
